Xbox’s September update is here, and it brought a bunch of changes to streamline the experience on console and PC, so you can enjoy more games with little hassle.
In a lengthy Xbox Wire post, Microsoft revealed all the new features–one of which has been in beta–available now on consoles and PC. There’s a ton of stuff here.
There’s the beta of the n-game AI-powered assistant, Gaming Copilot, expanding to Game Bar on Windows PC and hitting the Xbox mobile app next month. You’ve got a revamped Xbox PC app, which simplifies finding your apps, games, and history into a couple of easier-to-navigate menus. And then PC gamers get three specific updates: a visually cleaner Social widgets experience, a Network Quality Indicator tool designed to help you understand and troubleshoot your connection, and a feature to make game saves sync easier across devices.
Meanwhile, Xbox’s major new update this month is Offer Wallet, a “unified wallet solution” that simplifies how you access and claim Xbox offers. This is in addition to a new Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 dynamic background, as the game’s multiplayer beta starts on October 2.
Gaming Copilot is a rather controversial addition to the Xbox ecosystem. Revealed earlier this year and designed to provide help, recommendations, and other in-game support, Gaming Copilot is a Steam-like overlay that puts the essentially AI assistant right in your face. There’s also a linked AI chatbot that can read your Xbox profile, which lets you get answers to questions around enemy encounters, gamer score inquiries, rare Achievements, and more.
In other Microsoft news, the company announced on September 19 that Xbox consoles will get another price increase in the US on October 3. The cheapest Xbox Series model, the 512GB Xbox Series S, will cost $400.
