Digmon Story: Time Stranger has an extensive list of missions to complete before the credits roll, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg. The true game begins with the NewGame+ that players can start after beating the main story and starting anew from the last saved data. This will preserve not only their items and money, but their trained Digimon and everything they have unlocked (evolutions included) during their first playthrough.
Now, if players are wondering what to do after the game ends, then look no further. This comprehensive guide will help them decide what to do next after they have beaten the main story and completed the final boss battle. From reaching the highest power levels with enhanced Digimon, to getting absolutely broken Jogress Evolutions starting at Agent Rank 8, here’s everything players can do in Digimon Story: Time Stranger’s post-game.
Reaching Agent Level 8 And Unlocking Burst Modes and Mega+ Jogress
Some of the most powerful Digivolutions in Digimon Story: Time Stranger are hidden behind a requisite: Reaching Agent Rank 8. This is quite hard to accomplish in the first playthrough, as some of the Secondary Missions might become available for only a short window of opportunity, and if players are not careful enough, they might totally miss them. On the other hand, even completing all the Secondary Missions will take players to the last straw of Agent Rank 7, and they’ll require around 300 more Anomaly Points to reach the next Rank.
But that’s where the New Game+ Feature comes into play, with a new chance to break through the highest Agent Ranks (from 8 to 10), unlocking every Digivolution, and adding extra bonuses to their stacking passives that grant more XP gain for their Digimon and more Stats, which makes easier to retrain them after activating a powerful Burst Mode like Gallantmon Crimson Mode or Lucemon Larva Mode. On the other hand, Jogress evolutions like Alphamon Ouryuken, Examon, and Omnimon are finally unlocked, and if players play their cards right, they can have up to 6 Jogress Evolutions in their team at the same time.
Completing All Outer Dungeons
The existence of Outer Dungeons is one of the not-so-well-hidden secrets of Digimon Story: Time Stranger, and these small instances where players are tasked with completing a series of challenges are scattered around Illiad and Tokyo. So there’s a chance that finding them all requires players to revisit some places to spot them all. Some might be harder to spot in their first playthrough than others, so if players are going through the Post-Game and starting anew with the NewGame+ feature, then they’re up for a treat.
Raising the level of difficulty also raises the danger of these Outer Dungeons, and the power of the Digimon players will face inside. With the sole exception of Peckmon races, the rest of the Outer Dungeons become pure madness once players hit Mega level (unlocked with New Game+). So if players want a true test of skill and unlock the secret achievement that consists of finding all Outer Dungeons, then this is one of the activities they can do in the Post-Game.
Challenging the Highest Difficulty Levels
If players ever dreamed of fighting the strongest Digimon in epic battles where the slightest mistake ends up in game over, then the Mega and Mega+ Difficulty levels are the thrill they’re looking for. When even a Koromon poses a significant threat to the survival of the entire Digimon party, things get really interesting. Not to mention the myriad of challenging bosses players will fight from the earliest stages at the Tokyo Government Building to the later end-game areas of Illiad. Players will also need to unlock all Cross Arts and learn how to combine them with their Digimon Abilities to optimize their builds.
For players to survive in Mega (and Mega+) mode, they will have to pay a lot of attention to type and attribute compatibilities and switch Digimon in battle accordingly. Save scumming is a must, as most of the bosses don’t forgive a single slip, mercilessly taking advantage of the players’ Digimon’s weaknesses and build flaws. If players haven’t used the DigiFarm or fused their Digimon with the Load Enhancement feature, then they should forget about overcoming even the first Boss Fight. So, if they are up for a challenge, they should just go ahead and start a New Game+, because Digimon Story: Time Stranger still has many secrets to discover and challenging foes left to beat.
