This post contains spoilers for Solo Leveling.
Solo Leveling is arguably the biggest anime series of 2025. The second season of the anime was released in January 2025, and it garnered a ton of hype in next to no time. Every week the anime ended up breaking a new record on Crunchyroll.
By the end of Season 2, fans were confident that no other anime would come close to Solo Leveling’s popularity. However, they have been proven wrong.
Solo Leveling Will Never Surpass Demon Slayer
Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie Shattered All Kinds Of Records
- Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Movie set new records
- Solo Leveling cannot match its fame
Unfortunately for Solo Leveling, Demon Slayer released the first Infinity Castle movie in August 2025. Before the movie’s release, there was a great deal of hype, and fans were expecting the movie to perform well. But nobody thought that the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie would have such unprecedented success. Initially, the movie was only available in Japan, and within the first few days, it managed to break all manner of records, which made it clear it was going to get even better.
With time, the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movie began releasing in other countries, and the outcome was the same. The movie began breaking records, and fans continued to flock to the theaters even weeks after its release. The movie was recently released in the United States, and things weren’t so different. It dominated the proceedings and broke longstanding records.
There is no doubt that the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie will continue to generate sales for at least more weeks, so by the end of the run, it will have surpassed almost every single anime movie. It is safe to say that it will be impossible for any other anime to break the records.
There is no doubt that Solo Leveling is extremely popular, but it is nearly impossible for it to reach the same level as Demon Slayer. In fact, other new generation anime like Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Academia, and Black Clover are unable to match Demon Slayer in terms of popularity.
Demon Slayer is one of the few manga series to have sold more than 200 million copies. Based on the latest reports, the manga has crossed the 220 million mark, meaning it has surpassed the likes of Kingdom, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and Attack on Titan. However, fans of other anime series should not be upset, as there is absolutely no shame in being beaten by Demon Slayer.
Solo Leveling Might Release A Movie In The Future
A Solo Leveling Movie Could Come Close To Demon Slayer
At the moment, most fans are waiting for news regarding the third season of Solo Leveling. They were confident that an announcement would be made after the second season concluded, but the higher-ups had other plans. The lack of news is slightly concerning, but there is absolutely no reason for fans to be worried. Solo Leveling is one of Crunchyroll’s biggest moneymakers, so it will undoubtedly return for a third season.
Leaving all the talk related to the third season for a second, it is worth mentioning that there is a slight possibility of Solo Leveling releasing a full-fledged movie in the future. The series did release a compilation movie in 2024, but viewers know that it’s not the same. Since Sony owns the rights to Solo Leveling, it’s a legit possibility of a movie being released before 2030. Sony has seen how successful the two Demon Slayer movies were, so the company may decide to use a similar approach with Solo Leveling.
If that’s the case, then fans can expect Solo Leveling Season 3 to be shorter. Since Solo Leveling is primarily focused on action, a movie can easily cover an entire arc. Depending on the success of the movie, Sony will make its decision about whether to continue with the same approach or revert to a normal series. Just to make things clear, this is merely speculation, and Sony has not confirmed a Solo Leveling movie or a third season for that matter. Currently, only a live-action project is in the works.
