Konami has rolled out a small update to its latest big release, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, that corrects some language and voice line issues that have gone awry. A ground-up remake of the 2004 Hideo Kojima classic, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater impressed fans of the long-standing stealth franchise despite the original game’s mastermind not being involved. As a prequel to the first Metal Gear Solid, Delta serves as the perfect jumping-in point for new fans to become engrossed in Kojima’s signature wild, wacky universe.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater was released in late August and, despite being a well-polished Unreal Engine 5 remake of a two-decade-old game, still required some post-launch tweaks. The previous update, 1.1.3, added an inverted camera option, fixed an issue with the reward for shooting all 64 of the game’s elusive GA-KO collectibles, and patched up some pesky game crashes. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater‘s updates have been quite small so far, and the trend seems to be continuing with this new one.
Konami has unveiled the patch notes for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater‘s Update 1.1.4, which has just been rolled out to the Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam versions of the remake. Faulty voice lines are the main target of this update, as it fixes issues that have caused Naked Snake’s voice lines to be spoken in English despite a different language being set. Another voice issue made Snake impressively swap between English and Japanese in specific cutscenes. Metal Gear Solid 3 is home to some of the most iconic lines in video game history, so it’s important they don’t get sullied by language bugs in the remake, especially for newcomers to the franchise.
That’s not all Update 1.1.4 brings to the table. Another issue having to do with cutscenes that would have animals or even characters completely disappear has been patched up. It’s unknown whether it was only background characters like Volgin’s henchmen that were disappearing or important characters like Ocelot, Eva, or Snake himself that this was happening to, but it’s a good thing the issue has been fixed. The early Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater boss fight that has Snake square up against The Pain has had a major issue addressed in this update as well. The bug wasn’t allowing players to climb up onto the two rocks in the water-filled boss arena, which was a crucial issue, as swapping between swimming and solid ground is an important strategy for the fight.
Alongside more future updates, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has its 12-player Fox Hunt multiplayer mode on the way as well. Survival Capture and Survival Intrude are the two gameplay modes available, both setting the stage for tense, stealth-based encounters between competing players. Fox Hunt will drop for free on October 30.
