Silent Hill 2 Remake Studio Director Says the Game ‘Proved People Wrong’

A director at the Polish studio Bloober Team says that the developer’s work on the Silent Hill 2 remake “proved people wrong,” with the game’s success giving the team more confidence and credibility overall. Released in October 2024, Silent Hill 2 received incredibly positive reviews from critics and players alike and has been widely praised for its atmosphere, graphics, and faithfulness to the original 2001 Team Silent title.

Selling over 1 million copies in its first three days, Bloober Team’s remake of one of the most beloved entries in the horror series became the fastest-selling title in the franchise, with Silent Hill 2 going on to sell 2 million copies globally by January 2025. When the game was announced in 2022 following several leaks, many fans were worried, as the studio handling the remake had released several titles that garnered only average reviews. While dissent and negativity became the norm among fans as they awaited the game’s release, Bloober Team didn’t give up and managed to deliver one of the most beloved horror titles of the past few years.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Ran So That Silent Hill f Could Too

Silent Hill f, the upcoming new entry in Konami’s psych-horror series, looks ready to solidly follow in the path that SH2 Remake paved for it.

While chatting with PC Gamer in a new interview, the director of Bloober Team’s upcoming survival horror game Cronos: The New Dawn, Jacek Zięba, shared how the success of Silent Hill 2 altered the feeling at the studio. “There were a lot of voices: ‘Oh no, Bloober is doing this. They will destroy that.’ It was very tough for the whole company to stick to our guns and put all our heart into that thing, even if most people don’t want it,” Zięba said. “We proved people wrong, so that’s nice.” In June, Bloober Team was confirmed to be working on a remake of the original Silent Hill title, and as the staff has seen an incredible confidence boost after seeing mountains of positive feedback for its previous outing, hopes are high for this next addition to the company’s portfolio. “I think we’re riding the wave of people being intrigued, and we need to deliver,” Zięba said, discussing how much the team wants to succeed twice in a row. “We put our hearts into all our games, and we do whatever we can to make it the best.”

Silent Hill 2 Studio Staff ‘No Longer Feel Like Underdogs’

In early June, a reliable insider hinted at the possibility of an upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake DLC, which could potentially add the Born From a Wish bonus scenario found in the special editions and re-release of the original 2001 survival horror title. While there has been no official confirmation regarding the additional content, fans are hoping to potentially learn more at Gamescom in August.

Alongside the Silent Hill remake, Bloober Team is hard at work on Cronos: The New Dawn, which is slated to release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S by the end of 2025. The title will feature unique traversal mechanics and fast-paced gunplay, and will be set in an alternate reality in which players must explore both the past and the future to help prevent a major event from destroying all of humanity.
