Riot Games’ new fighter game set in the League of Legends universe, 2XKO, is far from easy to pick up, especially for those coming over from the MOBA with little experience of fighting games. One feature that is confusing players is what Pulse Combos are in 2XKO, and whether they should be turned on or off.
What Are Pulse Combos In 2XKO?
Pulse Combos in 2XKO are essentially an autocombo system, which makes the game more accessible to newcomers who don’t want to learn each champion’s combos.
To keep things fair, these autocombos don’t deal as much damage as learned ones, nor are they as versatile, making them weaker at high-level play.
Players can turn them on during the champion selection phase, and when Pulse Combos are enabled, players will see a rotating purple icon at the top. Use the following controls to enable/disable Pulse Combos:
- Xbox: RT
- PlayStation: R2
- PC: U
How Do Pulse Combos Work In 2XKO?
Pulse Combos work by mashing attack buttons, but with three different types of attacks, there are different Pulse Combos, and players can even mix things up mid-combo.
- Light: 7 Light Attacks is the easiest Pulse Combo, and it won’t cost any Meter.
- Medium: 5 Medium Attacks is another Pulse Combo, and if players have enough Meter, it will end in a Super, but it costs 1 bar of Meter.
- Heavy: 4 Heavy Attacks is the best Pulse Combo, and with enough Meter, it will end with an Ultimate, but it costs 3 bars of Meter.
You can also press different attack buttons at random to make custom Pulse Combos on the fly. Go wild with mashing!
Players need to be right up against their opponent to perform these attacks and combos, and the buttons need to be mashed fairly quickly.
Should You Use Pulse Combos In 2XKO?
In terms of whether you should use Pulse Combos in 2XKO, that very much depends on the player and their experience level.
Beginners Should Turn Pulse Combos On To Begin With
Beginners, especially those who are new to fighting games, will almost certainly want to turn Pulse Combos on. This will allow them to focus on learning the basics and what each champion does.
Experienced Players Should Eventually Turn Pulse Combos Off
While more experienced players might want to start with Pulse Combos enabled while they learn the nuances of the game and new champions, the aim should be to eventually turn Pulse Combos off.
Skilled players will be able to deal more damage with their own combos, be more versatile, and be less predictable.
