One Piece is the biggest manga series in the world, and while its popularity was, for a long time, central to Japan, the series is now growing exponentially abroad as well. Over the past few years, One Piece has shown tremendous growth overseas. Its popularity has gotten to a point where it has also ended up receiving a live-action series.
A reason why One Piece became as popular internationally as it did is its availability across various streaming platforms, including Netflix. One Piece being available on Netflix meant that fans got to binge a ton of exciting episodes and get an experience of the world created by Eiichiro Oda himself. But, all good things come to an end, and September 1 is going to be an especially sad day for all One Piece fans. This is because Netflix is going to remove some One Piece content from its platform, and, as expected, fans aren’t too happy about it.
Netflix Is Set To Remove One Piece Content From The Platform
One Piece: Film Gold And Some Anime Specials Will No Longer Be Available
Netflix is the biggest streaming service in the whole world. A few years ago, the platform wasn’t all that great for anime fans, as options were very limited back then. As time passed, Netflix grew dramatically, and anime fans can now find a lot more series to stream on the platform. One big example of that is One Piece.
Indeed, One Piece made it onto Netflix a few years ago, something that made international fans very happy. However, some saddening news has come out recently, and it has been confirmed that Netflix is removing some One Piece content from its platform.
The biggest content lost will be the removal of One Piece: Film Gold. This movie is a fan favorite among One Piece fans, and will definitely be missed as it features one of the most interesting movie villains of the series, Gild Tesoro.
One Piece: Film Gold is only one part of what’s getting removed from Netflix. The anime special that is tied to it, called One Piece: Heart of Gold, is also being removed from Netflix. This episode was the setup for this movie for advertising purposes. Aside from Film Gold content, another episode, One Piece: Episode of East Blue – Luffy and His Four Crewmates’ Great Adventure, is also getting shelved. This episode is an abbreviated retelling of the East Blue 5’s story.
And finally, the last episode getting removed is One Piece: Episode of Skypiea. This episode is a condensed version of the Skypiea arc, although the adaptation is not a good one, as it cuts out a lot of crucial moments, something that is to be expected with its limited time. As such, not many fans will miss it.
All Of One Piece Is Available on Crunchyroll
One Piece is quite a long series, and with it being a weekly anime, the number of episodes keeps growing with every single week. Right now, the anime has over 1100 episodes to catch up to, and they can all be found on Crunchyroll, including specials and movies.
When it comes to the manga, One Piece Chapter 1158 will be out in two weeks. As usual, One Piece is going to drop on Sunday. In Japan, One Piece drops at 12AM JST on Monday. However, the vast majority of international readers will see the chapter available on August 31. The official release date of One Piece Chapter 1158 is August 31, 2025.
