Summary

  • Dexter Morgan Embraces His Darker Side, Returning To His Lethal Roots
  • The Series Adds Throwbacks To The Original Show, Creating Excitement
  • Dexter Resurrection Raises Stakes, Promising More Brutality & Thrills

Dexter: Resurrection has proven to be an innovative and forward-thinking spin-off series so far, continuing the story of Dexter Morgan while adding several new characters to make the story even more exciting. However, the most recent episode of the show helped to provide a throwback that appears to be taking the iconic serial killer back to the basics.

There have been numerous callbacks to the original series throughout Dexter: Resurrection so far, but the fourth episode took things to a new level. It’s clear that this series aims to take Dexter back to the early days of the show, which will set up a scintillating second half of the season for Dexter: Resurrection.

Dexter Morgan Has Embraced The Dark Passenger Once Again

He’s Reclaimed His Name, And Now His Behavior Is Following

Dexter Morgan has always been a cold-blooded serial killer, but that is something that slowed down following the original series. However, Dexter: Resurrection has slowly been guiding him back to the man he was when the show first began, and he was the Bay Harbor Butcher. That was arguably when he was at his most violent and deadly, with fans having been looking for that side of him ever since. Once he learned another serial killer was being nicknamed the Dark Passenger, he wasted little time getting him onto his kill table and showcasing his qualities, as his skills haven’t faltered, despite age and injury. That was intensified in the most recent episode when he met a new group of serial killers and a unique collection of memorabilia that had trophies from countless different killers.

Dexter then opted to unleash his dark urges on Neil Patrick Harris’ character, Lowell. Despite having just met each other, Dexter doesn’t like the way Lowell operates, as he simply kills people based on their tattoos so he can collect them. Seeing Dexter immediately flip the switch inside of him to take Lowell out in the most brutal way possible was a big talking point. Having him admit to being the Bay Harbor Butcher was an interesting moment, as that’s an identity he’s always tried to hide from. While he was happy to kill all those people, Dexter hasn’t normally embraced that part of his life, and he hasn’t been as bloodthirsty as he was in those early moments of the original show. However, the more Dexter: Resurrection leans into that character, the closer he gets to being that man again.

Dexter Has Been Reunited With His Iconic Trophies

Dexter: Resurrection Might Bring Back His Trophy Collecting

Dexter

Dexter saw a lot of interesting sights when he was looking through Leon Prater’s interesting collection of trophies from various serial killers. It was a moment where Dexter realized how intense the situation was going to be, but there was only one item that caught his eye more than most, his old blood slides. All of the slides he collected during his time as the Bay Harbor Butcher were proudly on display, and while Dexter didn’t steal them, it certainly inspired something within him. Collecting trophies is something that Dexter hasn’t done for quite some time, yet when he killed Lowell, he opted to make one again. It was another throwback moment to the original series and the old-school way that he used to operate. While there are many fresh ideas in this series, seeing Dexter: Resurrection start to take him back to the basics is setting up an interesting storyline.

Dexter, at his most dangerous and embracing his past simultaneously, is likely to create a deadly combination that will yield drastic results as the series progresses. It’s something that could prove to be exciting, especially since he’s currently balancing trying to save his son from law enforcement and becoming friends with serial killers all at the same time. There could be a moment in the near future where Dexter has to be a little unhinged to get what he wants, and that in itself would provide some gripping content.

Dexter Morgan Is Ready To Embrace His Darker Side

Dexter: Resurrection Is Going To Ramp Up The Stakes

Dexter has always embraced the thrill of the kill, and he has never hidden from the fact that he enjoys the experience of murdering his victims and feeding his inner urge. However, in Dexter: Resurrection, he has made it clear that he’s not playing by Harry’s code anymore. Instead, he’s embracing the fact that he is a serial killer, which was evident by how relaxed and almost happy he was after meeting like-minded individuals like him. With Dexter now two kills down within this series, it’s obvious that he is starting to ramp up his lust for brutality and murder, with anyone who he deems to have crossed the line being at risk right now. That is why taking him back to the basics is such an exciting option. It will allow him to do what he does best, in the most effective manner that fans want to see, which should lead to Dexter: Resurrection becoming even more exciting than it already has been.
