Reborn Treant Soulwood Boss Guide

Wuchang Fallen Feathers features a wide range of boss fights, some being optional, while most of them are mandatory to progress the story. Reborn Treant Soulwood is one of the main bosses that you’ll encounter towards the end of the Doomwillow Beach section in chapter one. The boss towers over Wuchang and can summon corpses and wood tentacles to halt her movement. Here’s how to easily beat this boss and progress further into the story.

All Reborn Treant Soulwood Attacks

Reborn Treant Soulwood in Wuchang Fallen Feathers is a rather sluggish boss with repetitive attacks that players can easily dodge away from (after going a few rounds with it). Let’s break down all the attacks you can expect from the boss in this encounter and how to counter/evade them.

  • AOE Flame Attack: The boss will lower its head and charge up a fiery attack in its mouth. Once the attack is released, flame will cover 90% of the boss arena and will inflict burn damage to Wuchang if she’s caught in it. To avoid getting hit by this attack, players can either dodge at the last second when flames reach Wuchang or they can move farthest away from the boss, as the flames won’t reach there.
  • Inhale (Air Pull): The boss will randomly perform an inhale attack, which will pull players towards it and into the pool of rot (Despair). The pool will quickly build the Despair ailment, which will cause immediate death. So, while the boss is doing this attack, keep sprinting away from it to maintain your distance.
  • Energy Projectiles (Orbs): At random intervals, Reborn Treant Soulwood will launch two to three orb projectiles that will hone in on Wuchang. Dodging them at the last second is recommended to build Skyborn Might. Once these hit the ground, they’ll create flowers that will provide additional Skyborn Might.
  • Ground Slam: This is a simple attack and not very dangerous, as the boss will simply slam one of its fists into the ground. The first will get stuck in the ground, giving players ample time to hurt it with melee weapons.
  • Minion Summon: Throughout the encounter, the boss will summon corpses that will grab hold of Wuchang’s leg, restricting her mobility for a short duration. On the other hand, the boss can also summon wood tentacles that can spin around and inflict damage to Wuchang.

How to Beat Reborn Treant Soulwood in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

Players can beat the Reborn Treant Soulwood boss in either a safe but slow way, or the hard and quick way in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. While the former will require you to rely on spells and maintain your distance from the boss, the latter will need you to get up close and use melee weapons against it.

For the first method, players can use fire-based spells like Infernal Flames or Burning Flames against the boss. Simply keep dodging the boss’ attacks at the right moment to build up enough Skyborn Might. Once you get an opportunity, launch the fire-based spells from an effective distance to engulf the boss in flames, dealing a decent amount of damage.

If you’re interested in the second method, it’s recommended to use the Bone Needle – Flame Temperance to imbue your weapon with fire. This method is a bit risky, but you’ll need to essentially keep dodging attacks and wait for the boss to use the Ground Slam attack. Once the boss’ fist is stuck in the ground, launch an all-out attack on it to inflict high damage against the Reborn Treant Soulwood.

For best efficiency, it’s recommended to combine both of the methods mentioned above to quickly beat the Reborn Treant Soulwood boss in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Once the boss is defeated, you’ll get an Alltree Jade Cylinder item and the Echo of Soulwood spell.
