Pokemon Legends Z-A has a ton of Secondary Missions to complete and earn tons of rewards, but among them, there’s a particular one that grants a reward most players would be drooling at: a Shiny Mareep. It’s Secondary Mission Nº 17: ‘A Shiny Mareep?‘, which can be tackled relatively early during the adventure.
Players will need to find this elusive Pokemon, and many players would be driving themselves nuts trying to force spawn an actual Shiny Mareep, when the solution might be simpler than they think. Here’s how to complete this Mission, as well as information on Mareep, how to evolve it, and where to find Ampharosite for its Mega Evolution.
Where to find The Shiny Mareep in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Starting the Secondary Mission Nº 17 – A Shiny Mareep? is quite easy: Players need to go to Wild Area Nº1, and talk to the girl called Duve near the entrance. She will tell the Trainer that someone has spotted a Shiny Mareep in the area, but when players try to make it spawn, nothing happens. In truth, there’s a solution for this: Players need to go to a specific hidden spot on one of the building rooftops, follow the next steps to find the right place.
First, start by breaking the Rocks near the entrance to Wild Area 1 using Rock Smash (players might have already done this). The exact spot where they need to go is the opposite side of where Pichu spawns in this area (near a small pond), and look for a Ladder.
Climb the Ladder and look to the right for yet another ladder. Climb that one to reach a small terrace where (surprise, surprise) a Shiny Mareep is loitering around. The quest will be finished automatically after a brief cutscene, and players will be left with a pleasant reward: The Shiny Mareep doesn’t despawn after the quest is complete, so do a quick save (just in case) and catch it with a Quick Ball.
How to Evolve Ampharos into Mega Ampharos in Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Mareep evolves into Flaaffy at level 15, and Flaaffy evolves into Ampharos at level 30. Now, to Mega Evolve Ampharos into Mega Ampharos, players will need to make this Pokemon hold the Mega Stone called Ampharosite. Trainers can get Ampharosite by defeating Rogue Mega Ampharos in the Main Mission Nº 23: ‘A Rogue Mega Ampharos.’ Players can save the Ampharosite obtained in this battle to evolve their Shiny Ampharos into a Shiny Mega Ampharos, which looks extremely cool.
Ampharos’ ideal nature is Modest (boosts SpA), and its ideal EV Spread is 252 HP, 252 SpA, and 4 Spe.
Mega Ampharos has the Electric/Dragon-type, a Base Stat Total of 610 distributed as follows: 90 HP, 95 Atk, 105 Def, 165 SpA, 105 SpD, and 45 Spe. Make sure to use the following Moveset for Mega Ampharos to make the most out of its powerful boost in Special Attack:
- Power Gem or Dragon Pulse (Coverage)
- Zap Cannon
- Thunder
- Electroweb (Utility, Spe Reduction)
Trainers can also teach it Dazzling Gleam (Fairy), or Focus Blast (Fighting) to get even more Coverage moves, and grant Mega Ampharos more versatility to face enemies such as Mega Steelixor Mega
Dragonite.
