
It’s the final month of Pokemon Go‘s Delightful Days season, and the mobile game is closing it out with a variety of events over the next few weeks. A handful of Pokemon are making their Go debut this month, including Gigantamax Butterfree and Shadow Kyogre, while Origin Form Dialga and Palkia are making a rare appearance during a special Raid Day.
As usual, new Spotlight Hours will also take place throughout August, and a new assortment of bosses is coming to raids. There’s also the big Pokemon Go Fest Max Finale event to look forward to, which promises to cap off the season in epic fashion with the arrival of Eternatus.

August Raid Schedule
A bunch of new raid bosses are coming to gyms throughout August.
The legendary Pokemon Lugia and Ho-Oh will return to five-star raids during the first half of the month, while Necrozma will appear toward the end of August. Mega raids, meanwhile, will feature Mega forms of Ampharos, Slowbro, Pidgeot, and Salamence, and Shadow Regirock will appear in special Shadow Raids every weekend.

Pokemon Go is spotlighting a new selection of Pokemon throughout August.
Every Tuesday evening from 6-7 PM local time, one species of Pokemon will appear more frequently in the wild, making this a good chance to fill out your Pokedex and stock up on candy. You’ll also earn an extra bonus for participating in the event, such as double XP or Stardust when you catch Pokemon.

Fossil Research Day


Pokemon Go is kicking off the month with a Fossil Research Day on August 2.
From 2-5 PM local time, fossil Pokemon like Kabuto, Cranidos, Tirtouga, and Archen will appear more frequently in the wild. You’ll also have a chance to encounter the rare Tyrunt and Amaura when you complete Field Research tasks during the event.

Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day


Gigantamax Butterfree is making its Pokemon Go debut during a special Max Battle Day on August 3.
The Gigantamax Pokemon will appear as a six-star Max Battle boss from 2-5 PM local time. A few bonuses will also be active during the event hours. Power Spots will distribute eight times the usual amount of Max Particles, and the number of Max Particles you can collect will be temporarily increased to 1,600.

Sweet Swarm


Combee and Swirlix are starring in a Sweet Swarm event from August 3-6.
You’ll have a chance to catch the featured Pokemon by completing Timed Research tasks during different days of the event. You’ll also earn other rewards for completing these tasks, including Stardust and Pinap Berries. As an added bonus, any Lure Modules you activate during the event will last for an hour, and they’ll be more likely to attract both featured Pokemon.

Cozy Companions


It may be summer, but two new ice Pokemon will make their debut during the Cozy Companions event from August 6-12.
The snow worm Snom is one of several Pokemon that may hatch from 7 km eggs during the event. To evolve one into Frosmoth, you’ll need to earn 10 hearts with Snom set as your buddy and then use 400 Snom candy.
Other Pokemon like Galarian Farfetch’d and Charcadet will also hatch from 7 km eggs, while Abra, Alolan Geodude, and Karrablast will appear more frequently in the wild. There will be a new set of Field and Timed Research tasks to complete as well, giving you even more chances to encounter the featured Pokemon.

Pokemon Go is holding another Hatch Day event on August 9, and this one revolves around the adorable Munchlax.
From 11 AM to 5 PM local time, Munchlax will hatch more frequently from 2 km eggs, and you’ll have an increased chance of hatching a shiny variant. There will also be some event-themed Timed Research tasks to complete, which will reward you with an Incubator and 5,000 XP.

Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day


Origin Form Dialga and Palkia are returning for a Raid Day on August 10.
The two legendary Pokemon will appear as five-star raid bosses from 11 AM to 5 PM. Not only that, but you’ll have an increased chance of encountering shiny versions of each.

Delightful Days: Taken Over


Team Go Rocket is crashing the party once again during the Delightful Days: Taken Over event from August 11-17.
Throughout the event, Team Go Rocket grunts will appear more frequently at PokeStops and in balloons, and they’ll have a new batch of Shadow Pokemon at their command, including Shadow Staryu, Shadow Fletchling, and Shadow Grubbin.
On top of that, Shadow Pokemon will appear in different raids, including the debuting Shadow Kyogre. There will also be a new Special Research story that culminates in a battle with Giovanni. If you can defeat the nefarious Team Go Rocket leader, you’ll earn a chance to rescue Shadow Giratina.

Pokemon World Championships Go Battle Weekend


To coincide with the 2025 Pokemon World Championships, Pokemon Go is hosting a Go Battle Weekend from August 15-17.
As part of the event, the game is adding another costumed Pikachu, this one wearing a varsity jacket. You’ll have a chance to encounter one in one-star raids and by completing Field Research tasks.
Other Pokemon like Paldeon Wooper, Frillish, and Fuecoco will appear more frequently in the wild as well, while Honedge, Lapras, and Dusclops can be found in raids. As an added bonus, you’ll also be able to make up to five Special Trades each day of the event.

Shadow Raid Weekend


Go Battle Weekend isn’t the only event happening during the Pokemon World Championships. Pokemon Go is also holding a Shadow Raid Weekend on August 16-17.
Throughout the weekend, Shadow Kyogre will appear as a five-star Shadow raid boss, making this your first opportunity to catch one. On top of that, you’ll be able to receive one additional free Raid Pass each day when you spin the Photo Disc at Gyms.
Dark Skies


Ahead of the Go Fest Max Finale, Pokemon Go is holding a Dark Skies event from August 18-23.
As part of the event, numerous Dynamax legendaries will appear in Max Battles, giving you a chance to snag some powerful Pokemon before your confrontation with Eternatus. The legendary Pokemon Zacian and Zamazenta will also return as five-star raid bosses during different days.
Finally, a few bonuses will be active throughout the event. Power Spots will refresh daily, and more will be active than usual. The number of Remote Raid Passes you can carry is also being increased temporarily to 30, letting you participate in more remote raids.

Pokemon Go Fest 2025: Max Finale


This year’s Pokemon Go Fest is officially coming to an end with the Max Finale event on August 23-24.
Headlining the event is Eternamax Eternatus, which will appear as at Power Spots as an extra challenging Max Battle boss. You won’t be able to catch this Eternatus after defeating it, but you will earn a ton of Eternatus candy that you can use to power up the one you get through Go Pass: Max Finale.
To help you take down Eternatus, every Gigantamax Pokemon is making a return to Max Battles. The legendaries Zacian and Zamazenta will also be available in five-star raids, giving you another chance to catch them if you’ve previously missed out.
Finally, a variety of bonuses will be active throughout the event. Power Spots will refresh more frequently than usual, and more will be active at a time. You’ll also earn double candy and candy XL for catching Pokemon, and there will be no limit on how many Remote Raids you can join.

Pokemon Go is holding one final summer-themed event called Sunkissed Shores from August 25-31.
Making its debut during the event is the big catfish Pokemon Dondozo. You can encounter one in three-star raids, while other summery Pokemon like Shellder, Bounsweet, Sandygast, and Alolan Exeggutor will be appearing in the wild.
As usual, there will also be free and paid Research tasks during the event, which will net you additional rewards including extra encounters with the featured Pokemon. As an added bonus, you’ll also earn double XP when you successfully complete raids.

Rounding out the month is August’s Community Day, which takes place on August 30 and stars the bird Pokemon Rookidee.
From 2-5 PM local time, Rookidee will appear more frequently in the wild, making this a good opportunity to stock up on Rookidee candy. Thanks to the increased spawn rate, you’ll also have better odds of encountering a shiny Rookidee.
On top of that, Rookidee’s final form, Corviknight, can learn a Community Day-exclusive attack. Any Corvisquire that you evolve from August 30 through September 6 will know the flying-type Charged Attack Air Cutter upon evolving into Corviknight.
A few other bonuses will also be available during August’s Community Day. Eggs that are placed in incubators will hatch at a quarter of the distance they typically require, and you’ll earn double the usual amount of candy for catching Pokemon. Any Incense and Lure Modules that you activate during the event will also last for three hours.

On top of that, a few bonuses will be available throughout the event. The number of Remote Raid Passes you can hold will be temporarily increased to 20, and you’ll be able to get up to five additional free Raid Passes when you spin the Photo Disc at gyms.
