This article contains spoilers from One Piece’s Elbaf arc.
In the world of One Piece, the Marines are known to be one of the Three Great Powers that exist to maintain the balance on the seas. The Marines are incredibly powerful, and their strength is such that they rival even the likes of the Yonko. That said, very few in the ranks of the Marines are actually on the level of the Yonko. In the old era, Garp was the only one who could’ve been on the same level as a Yonko or other top tiers of the era.
Curiously enough, just like the previous era of powerful Marines in One Piece, there is one powerful character in the current era as well. This person is none other than the current Fleet Admiral of the Navy, and one of the strongest characters in the whole story, Fleet Admiral Akainu, whose real name is Sakazuki. With one of the strongest Devil Fruits in the whole of One Piece, Sakazuki is easily a monster in his own right and he’s no less than any Yonko of the One Piece world, that’s for sure. He might not be Garp, but he’s still strong.
Fleet Admiral Akainu Is Yonko Level
Admirals Are Weaker Than The Yonko Generally
- Akainu is worth 5 billion berries
- Akainu has one of the most overpowered Devil Fruits
Fleet Admiral Akainu is easily one of the most powerful characters in One Piece, even though some fans might be quick to underrate him due to the fact that he’s a member of the Navy. Akainu has been with the Navy for a very long time, and over the years, he’s risen through the ranks to become the powerful figure that he is today. Akainu was, at one point, a Vice Admiral as well, and fans saw him as an Admiral during the events of the Paramount War arc.
The era of Whitebeard is over! He was just a loser of the old era! — Akainu
After the two-year timeskip of One Piece, Akainu became the Fleet Admiral, and now, he’s definitely grown stronger. For one, Akainu has one of the most powerful Devil Fruits in One Piece. His fruit is of the Logia type and it allows him to cause large-scale destruction with lava. More than that, Akainu’s Devil Fruit most likely seems to be awakened and in that case, it can be even stronger than what fans saw previously.
Akainu, why don’t you light some birthday candles, magma brat! — Whitebeard
Akainu Likely Has Conqueror’s Haki
One Of Luffy’s Biggest Enemies In One Piece
Akainu also has strong Haki, as shown by Oda himself in the Paramount War arc. He might also have Conqueror’s Haki, as expected of someone leading the Navy. Sengoku, the previous Fleet Admiral of the Navy, had access to Conqueror’s Haki. Garp, another leader of the previous generation also had access to Conqueror’s Haki. It would be preposterous to assume that Akainu, the man who leads the Navy currently, wouldn’t have this power. All these powers put together make Akainu a top tier Yonko level Marine. It is only a matter of time before Akainu comes across a Yonko and shows his full strength, as well as proves why he was given a 5 billion berry Bounty.
