The developers of the upcoming Octopath Traveler 0 have recently unveiled the official specs of the game for different consoles, and revealed that the town building placement limit will depend on the platform the title will be played on. This is bad news for gamers who own some less powerful machines, as their towns in Octopath Traveler 0 will not be as big as they could have been if they had picked different platforms.
Octopath Traveler 0 was announced earlier this year, and it’s set to be released on December 4 for Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The upcoming RPG will feature over 30 recruitable characters and allow for huge parties of up to eight characters. However, a key factor of the game is that the custom protagonist will be an inhabitant of Wishvale, a town destroyed by a fire. During the story, gamers will be able to restore the town, creating its buildings.
Octopath Traveler 0 Will Have Different Town Building Placement Limits on Distinct Platforms
With Square Enix unveiling the specs for Octopath Traveler 0, it was revealed that town-building placement limits will vary between consoles. While PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 will have towns with up to 500 buildings, the Switch 2 and the PS4 will allow only 400. The arguably worst platform to play the title will be the original Nintendo Switch, which will only allow for 250 buildings. The original Switch will be capped at 30 FPS, too, while Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and some PCs can go as high as 120 FPS.
The first two entries in the Octopath Traveler series are often considered among the best Japanese RPGs, and it’ll certainly be exciting to see what the developers will come up with in a sequel. Many details about the game have already been revealed, such as that the classic turn-based gameplay will continue and gamers will have a wide array of characters to choose from.
In Octopath Traveler 0, gamers will be able to explore on land and sea, visiting towns, deserts, forests, and more. Curiously, the title’s story will be inspired by Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, which was released solely for mobile devices, but it will have major tweaks.
Gamers who want to discover more about Octopath Traveler 0 should pay attention to the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025, which will run from September 25 to 28. Square Enix recently revealed its lineup for the Tokyo Game Show, which includes Octopath Traveler 0, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, Killer Inn, and others.
