Halo Studios plans to reveal more about the Halo projects it’s been working on during the upcoming Halo World Championship on October 24. The future of the Halo franchise remains somewhat uncertain, and ever since 343 Industries rebranded as Halo Studios and announced a switch to Unreal Engine 5, fans have been eagerly awaiting an official announcement about the next games in the series.
During the 2024 HaloWC event, developer Halo Studios revealed Project Foundry, an effort to recreate the franchise’s assets using Unreal Engine 5’s cutting-edge technology. The studio also confirmed that these updated assets will be used in future Halo games, though it did not provide details on any specific projects.
Halo Studios to Discuss Its Ongoing Projects at the 2025 HaloWC
Halo Studios has announced that it will soon discuss the projects it’s been working on, continuing the conversation started in the “A New Dawn” video shared in 2024. The developer stated that a segment on the Main Stage and a panel on the Community Stage of the 2025 HaloWC will go live on October 24, each likely sharing more details about upcoming Halo installments. Two unconfirmed but widely anticipated projects that could be revealed are the rumored remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and a standalone multiplayer Halo game, often referred to as Project Ekur.
Back in June 2025, during the Xbox Games Showcase, Phil Spencer hinted at the return of a classic that has been with Xbox since the beginning, fueling rumors of a possible Unreal Engine 5-powered remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, which was an Xbox launch title. Project Ekur has also remained a hot topic in the Halo community, as recent rumors suggest that, contrary to earlier beliefs, it has likely not been canceled and could be released as an extraction shooter or another type of multiplayer-focused installment.
Of course, these are all rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. So far, Halo Studios has kept its ongoing projects under wraps, and no one knows what awaits the community. Fans hoping for more information may want to mark October 24 on their calendars. On that day, they might finally learn what’s coming next and perhaps even catch a glimpse of future Halo games.
That said, a large portion of the fan base doesn’t seem very excited about the October 24 events. They argue that, based on the developer’s recent moves, the 2025 HaloWC is unlikely to feature surprising news or any encouraging updates. One fan wrote, “I have no faith in this group considering the last decade.” Many others shared this sentiment, but that doesn’t mean all fans are discouraged. Several have expressed excitement for the event, while others have shared their wish lists of games they hope to see revealed. It remains to be seen whether the upcoming HaloWC will deliver anything to hype the community or continue the secretive approach of the past few years.
