Naruto is one of the most legendary anime and manga series out there. A whole generation of anime fans grew up watching this series, and their nostalgia for it still holds strong, even though the series ended over 10 years ago now. Naruto does have an official sequel, Boruto, but it’s not well-received by all fans. Boruto is quite controversial, and for many good reasons. That said, some other series have taken elements of Naruto and done a far better job than Boruto. One new anime, Gachiakuta, might be a better successor for the Naruto series, and for multiple reasons.

Every Naruto fan has heard of Boruto, the series covering the story of Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki. This series is either loved or hated, however, it falls short in multiple ways in uplifting the legacy of Naruto. The story of Boruto is quite lacking, and the disrespect for old, well-established characters is definitely an ick for many readers. The story is still ongoing right now, but sales are definitely struggling.
Meanwhile, Gachiakuta is a new series that has taken the anime community by storm. This series is quite unique, but in premise, it’s not all that different from Naruto. Rudo, the main character of Gachiakuta, is an abandoned orphan, just like Naruto. And while he follows a darker path compared to Naruto, the story would still be an amazing watch for fans of the Naruto series.
Will Naruto Ever Get Another Official Sequel?
Naruto is Getting 4 New Special Episodes, But No New Sequel in Sight
While another series counting as Naruto’s next successor is nice, what fans really want is a real Naruto sequel, other than Boruto. Something that takes place between Shippuden and Boruto would be the dream for many fans, but at the moment, no such project has been discussed. At the very least, the Naruto series is getting 4 new special episodes. These episodes have already finished production but are yet to be released.
The Naruto manga ended in 2014 after 15 years of serialization. Both the original Naruto manga and the Shippuden manga can be found to read on Manga Plus, as well as its successor manga, Boruto. Meanwhile, the anime, which ended a bit later in 2007 for the original series, and the Shippuden anime ended in 2017. Both of these anime can be watched on Crunchyroll.
