After saving Tipp and Pill, Hornet will get a lot of delivery quests from them in Hollow Knight: Silksong. These delivery quests are a true test of players’ ability to navigate the map, as they disable the ability to teleport, especially the Liquid Lacquer delivery quest in Silksong. Here’s everything you need to know about the Liquid Lacquer delivery quest, including a walkthrough of how to deliver the Liquid Lacquer to Mask Maker in Silksong.
How To Deliver Liquid Lacquer In Silksong
Liquid Lacquer is a delivery quest from Tipp and Pill on top of Frey’s shop in Silksong. They’ll ask Hornet to deliver the Liquid Lacquer to the Mask Maker at the end of Mount Fay. This is one of the hardest things to do in the game, as Hornet needs to cross most of the map’s hardest areas, then climb Mount Fay, to reach Mask Maker and complete the Liquid Lacquer delivery in Silksong.
The Mask Maker in Silksong exists as an NPC that lives remotely in Mount Fay solely for the Liquid Lacquer quest.
While this alone is enough to make it incredibly hard, the game still asks you not to get hit more than two times, which further increases the difficulty of delivering the Liquid Lacquer to Mount Fay.
So, in order to complete the Deliver Liquid Lacquer quest in Silksong, the rules are:
- Deliver Liquid Lacquer to Mask Maker in Mount Fay.
- Liquid Lacquer has 3 HP.
Since this quest appears in Act 3, many of the enemies are upgraded versions that can launch dark attacks. These attacks can trigger multiple instances of damage, which can immediately end the Liquid Lacquer delivery quest. For that, it is necessary to clear the entire area before starting the Liquid Lacquer delivery quest. This is especially true for the Void Masses you’ll encounter along the way. The run alone takes around 10 to 15 minutes, so even if clearing enemies took longer than that, it’s still better than redoing the same 10 minutes over and over again.
If you decide to clear enemies on the route, make sure not to rest on the bench, since that will make them respawn.
Mount Fay alone is a problem, since there are a lot of spikes and deadly obstacles Hornet needs to go through to complete the delivery quest. So, it’s better to reach Mount Fay with 3 HP on the Liquid Lacquer item.
The best route to take is from Bellhart, then Shellwood, Blasted Steps, Grand Gate, Choral Chambers, The Slab, and finally Mount Fay.
Start from Bellhart by taking the same route you used for the delivery of Courier’s Rasher in Silksong.
The only difference here is that some of the places and walls are destroyed in Act 3, but you can easily spot another target to hook or land on.
Once you reach Choral Chambers, stop at the gate that takes you out of the area into the Slab.
Make it into the Slab, and target reaching the Bellway at the bottom of this area. This will give Hornet easy access to Mount Fay, where the real parkour puzzle is about to start.
When Hornet reaches Mount Fay, she needs to go on the same climb she did to get the Faydown Cloak in Silksong. Only this time, it’s easier, since she has the Double Jump ability, which greatly helps with the Mount Fay climb. Still, some enemies are a dark, upgraded version, even some of the ones that only exist for the hook’s purposes.
After completing the Mount Fay Climb, Hornet reaches the wind current that takes her to the top. Use that current to jump left onto a ledge that gets her closer to finding Mask Maker in Silksong.
While it’s faster to climb half of Mount Fay and cross to the other side from the middle, it’s exceptionally hard to pass through all the frozen lakes and deadly obstacles without taking damage. It’s still better to take the longer, but safer, route.
Once you reach the other side of the ledge, you’ll notice a slide that takes you back to the bottom of Mount Fay. Jump and keep descending until you reach the middle part of the slide.
Enter the small hole on the left side to reach another parkour puzzle. This time, it’s going up to where Mask Maker is residing in Silksong. The first hard part is where the ledge is too high, with spikes on the other side. Jump to the spikes and attack them to boost Hornet to the ledge.
After that, Hornet reaches a Double Jump challenge where she needs to jump onto the same wall and press the second jump right on time to get it right. You can easily skip that by jumping to the icy slide on the left. Once Hornet touches the slide, jump immediately to the other side.
Finally, after a long 10 to 15 minutes of journey across the lands of Pharloom, you can interact with the Mask Maker and deliver Liquid Lacquer in Silksong.
