Kingmakers, the highly anticipated medieval action-strategy game that also includes AK-47s, grenade launchers, and attack helicopters, is not going to make it out on time. Just five days before it was due to launch on October 8, developer Redemption Road has announced the game is being delayed indefinitely so the studio can make it the best game it can be whenever it does launch.
“It’s an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game, and we don’t want to cut any planned features for the sake of getting it out the door earlier,” the studio said in a statement. “We just need a bit more time on content polish before we feel good about charging money for it.”
“We’re making sure everyone who buys the game is enthralled and feels like their money was well spent,” the studio added.
The developer added that it’s planning a three-minute “deep dive” for the gameplay of Kingmakers, and it will be released “very soon.” This will show off a “comprehensive overview of everything we’ve been working on,” the team said.
Kingmakers takes players to a “war-torn medieval era,” but it’s not all swords and horses. If you’ve ever wondered how many swordsmen it might take to stop someone with an AK-47, Kingmakers aims to answer that.
“Use assault rifles, shotguns, grenade launchers, armored SUVs, bikes, attack helos, air strikes, and more to make sure the history altering goes smoothly,” reads a line from the game’s description.
So far, Kingmakers has been announced only for PC.
