This article contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen has quickly become one of the most popular manga series, outselling pretty much every other series, including the likes of One Piece for large parts of its manga run. Unfortunately, despite the massive popularity of the series, Jujutsu Kaisen concluded last year, and fans weren’t too happy with that.
A year later, Jujutsu Kaisen is back now, as Gege has started a new manga, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. Fans are hyped for what’s to come in this series, and Gege has already set up a huge threat for the protagonists to face. These protagonists, Yuka and Tsurugi, might even have more potential than the previous JJK protagonist Yuji, as they face an even bigger threat than Sukuna, and with less help.
Yuka and Tsurugi Have a Lot of Potential
They Are The Grandchildren of Maki and Yuta
With Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo having kick-started a few weeks ago, fans were quickly introduced to the main cast. The main characters are two siblings and the grandchildren of JJK legends Maki Zenin and Yuta Okotsu. These characters were first introduced in Gege’s one-shot last year, but now they’re being fully explored in this new story.
Yuka and Tsurugi are both decently strong, and both are about on the same power level. Yuka has shown what she can do with her immense cursed energy reserves, similar to those of Yuta Okkotsu, while Tsurugi showcases his swordsmanship skill as someone with little cursed energy, just like his grandma initially. Both are strong in their own way, but one thing is for sure: they are nowhere near strong enough to face what’s coming for them.
These two, however, definitely have a lot of potential and will grow fast, in terms of power, even more than Yuji. Their growth has been a lot faster than that of the previous generation, especially as Gege is on a time limit here with just 6 months for this series.
Yuji Is A Legend, But The Next Generation Has to Surpass Him
- Yuka and Tsurugi Are Facing an Even Bigger Threat Than Sukuna
- Yuji Could Become a Mentor Figure If He Ever Returns to the Story
Yuji was definitely a fan-favorite character among the fans. He wasn’t all that strong for the vast majority of Jujutsu Kaisen, but he grew tenfold in the final battle against Sukuna. Yuji was a major reason the battle was won, and he fulfilled his insane potential there to beat the King of Curses.
This potential might be surpassed by the next generation of sorcerers as they face an even bigger threat, the Simurian King. The Simurian King alone is a Sukuna-level threat, and on top, he has an army of 50,000 aliens.
Yuji might, at the very least, return to the story and help the new generation fulfill their potential as their mentor figure or even fight with them. Regardless, to beat someone like the Simurian King, a Yuji-level protagonist is needed, and it seems that’s where Gege Akutami is going with this series.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024 but can be read online for free. It is available on Manga Plus, where this series used to be serialized weekly. For fans who want to now check out the new JJK sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the series can also be read on Manga Plus, where it will drop weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 5 will be released on October 5, 2025.
