Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle, also known as Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza Returns, was hyped up to be one of the most commercially successful films of all time. Following its release in Japan on July 18, 2025, and then to other parts of the world, it can be argued with confidence that the movie has lived up to the hype and is expected to break many records by the time it ends its theatrical run.
Like in many other regions, Demon Slayer fans are excited for the highly anticipated release of the film in North America. Although Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza Returns won’t hit the theaters in the region until a few weeks later, there are already signs that it is set to break many box-office records.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Will Shatter Box-Office Records in the United States
Infinity Castle Looks Set to Have a Historic Run in North America
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is set to hit the theaters in the U.S on September 12, 2025. Even several weeks before its premiere, the movie has raked in $10 million in advance bookings alone. This number is likely to proliferate in the following weeks. To put things into perspective, this is the highest anime pre-sale in the country until now, and the film has surpassed even Mugen Train’s advance bookings. Since Mugen Train is the highest-grossing Japanese movie of all time, it won’t be a surprise if Infinity Castle goes on to break its long-standing record and redefine the anime industry.
Based on the advance bookings alone, it’s safe to say that Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Chapter 1: Akaza Return is set to shatter many box-office records in the upcoming weeks. The film’s success has also influenced the manga sales and pushed it into the Oricon Rankings after a long time. With over 220 million copies, Demon Slayer is rated as one of the most loved manga of all time. But this could just be the beginning of something special, as the Infinity Castle arc is confirmed to be adapted into two more films that are scheduled to be released in 2027 and 2029.
Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate fan subscribers can watch the special screening starting September 9. The film will be screened in over 250 theaters in the country.
