This article contains major spoilers from the Demon Slayer manga.

The international release date of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is getting closer with each passing day. Fans are excited to see the demon slayers clash with Muzan and the upper moons in a deadly night where blood will spill and lives will be lost. No one is safe in the Infinity Castle, including the life of one highly capable Hashira, who will bid everyone the saddest goodbye.

From day one, Demon Slayer has been no stranger to character deaths. In a deadly world infested with flesh-eating demons, there’s no guarantee everyone will live to see another day. That’s also true in the Infinity Castle arc, where even the most ruthless demons can lose their decades-long lives. However, to defeat an upper moon, or even Muzan, there’s always a committed Hashira who will do their best to protect others at the cost of their lives.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle is out. The endpoint is revealed.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Will Say Goodbye to the Mist Hashira

Tokito Muichiro Will Protect His Comrades Until the End

  • The Hashira won’t be safe in the Infinity Castle arc.
  • The Mist Hashira will die at such a young age.

While owning the Hashira title is an impressive feat, it doesn’t mean they can always come out of a demon fight alive. Sure, they have strength far superior to most demon slayers, but the heaviest responsibility falls on their shoulders. They are expected to protect not just their comrades but also to kill powerful demons even at the cost of their lives. Dying for the sake of others is a huge honor for any Hashira, as they were able to push the decades-long fight of the Demon Slayer Corps forward with their significant contribution.

That’s exactly what the Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, will feel in the Infinity Castle arc of Demon Slayer. While he won’t sheath his sword in the first chapter, Akaza Returns, the next movies in the Infinity Castle trilogy will most certainly show him fighting against his ancestor, the strongest upper moon, Kokushibo, who’s also Yoriichi Tsugikuni’s ambitious older brother.

I trained so hard that I vomited blood to destroy demons.—Muichiro Tokito

Fans have seen Muichiro Tokito defeat an upper moon demon with an active demon slayer mark in the past. However, defeating the strongest of them all won’t be as easy as killing Gyokko, as Kokushibo’s strength is in a completely different league. Even against four demon slayers, including Muichiro, Sanemi, Gyomei, and Genya, Kokushibo can hold his own. Even so, fans know Muichiro won’t run away from anything, even if it means he must sacrifice his life to protect his friends.

The Mist Hashira Will Not Regret Sacrificing His Life in Infinity Castle

Tokito Muichiro Will Finally Be at Peace

  • Instead of accepting Kokushibo’s offer to become a demon, the Mist Hashira will fight to the end.
  • Tokito Muichiro will sacrifice his life in the fight against Kokushibo.

Most Demon Slayer characters are afraid of dying, especially those who gave up their human lives to become a demon and continue living. Kokushibo is the perfect example, as he abandoned his human life in the hopes of escaping death and surpassing his extremely talented younger brother. However, Muichiro Tokito is different from his ancestor. He refuses the idea of becoming a demon, even in the face of inevitable death.

When Kokushibo invited Muichiro to become a demon working under Muzan Kibutsuji, the Mist Hashira refused his offer without hesitation. He doesn’t need to become a demon just to escape death and preserve his flawless and beautiful techniques. Instead, Muichiro will stick to his duties and responsibilities as the Mist Hashira without regrets. He will not let go of his Nichirin Blade until Kokushibo crumbles and fades away.

I was born to be happy.—Muichiro Tokito

True enough, as revealed in the Demon Slayer manga, Muichiro Tokito will cling to his red Nichirin Blade even if he gets sliced into pieces. His plan to slow down Kokushibo’s movements, at least for a moment, would be successful, but at the cost of his life. And at the age of 14, Muichiro will rest in peace, knowing he played a major part in the fight against the demons, on top of doing his best to protect his comrades.

The Mist Hashira Will Die With Another Demon Slayer in Infinity Castle

Tokito Muichiro and Genya Shinazugawa Will Die Against Kokushibo

  • Tokito Muichiro and Genya Shinazugawa will be the casualties of the Kokushibo fight in the Infinity Castle arc.

Unfortunately, the Mist Hashira will not be the only casualty of the crucial fight against Upper Moon One Kokushibo. Sanemi Shinazugawa’s younger brother, Genya, will also die shortly after Muichiro Tokito loses his life. Both suffered serious injuries, and their deaths were inevitable. Even so, they stayed true to their plan to fight together to the very end, just to protect their comrades.

I don’t regret risking my life for my comrades.—Muichiro Tokito

Without Muichiro Tokito and Genya, the encounter with Kokushibo could have claimed the lives of two of the most powerful Hashira in Demon Slayer. Their sacrifices will not be in vain, as Sanemi and Gyomei will continue the fight against Muzan on the surface. If it weren’t for these two courageous demon slayers, Kokushibo could have caused more problems for Tanjiro and the others before they could even come after Muzan.
