Graviton Spike is one of the featured Exotic weapons in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, and apart from being a really cool Hand Cannon, it’s pretty good at clearing both basic adds and tougher enemies. However, Graviton Spike won’t be complete until you get all the Intrinsic upgrades and Catalysts for it.
Gravitic Doctorate is a Triumph in Destiny 2 that basically serves as a tracker for Graviton Spike’s upgrades. It’s not quite a quest in the traditional sense, but it’s still something that players will end up getting if they plan on upgrading their Graviton Spike to the fullest. If you’re wondering how to unlock this Triumph, here’s a guide to help you out.
Destiny 2: How to Get Gravitic Doctorate Triumph
The Gravitic Doctorate Triumph is a little difficult to get. Not only are the steps confusing, but it also takes quite a bit of time. Obviously, you’ll need to get Graviton Spike itself before you try getting this Triumph.
All the steps needed for the Gravitic Doctorate Triumph are as follows:
- First Intrinsic acquired
- Second Intrinsic acquired
- Third Intrinsic acquired
- Rapid Hit acquired (0/3)
- Subsistence acquired (0/3)
- Transcendent Zen acquired (0/3)
- Temporal Alignment acquired (0/3)
How to Get All Graviton Spike Intrinsics
This is where things get tricky. Graviton Spike’s Intrinsics and Catalysts are all hidden in Kepler, so you’ll need to be very thorough if you want to do things by yourself. If you’d rather skip the guesswork, here’s where you need to go.
Temporal Manipulation Intrinsic 2 Location
The first Intrinsic is inside one of the buildings in Caldera. Go behind the base, near the fallen vent, then look for the Matterspark tunnel. Go through it, then shoot the big flower to the right. To destroy it, you need to use Graviton Spike. Shoot the flower first with Arc mode, then destroy it with Stasis once it blooms.
Destroying the flower will cause the nearby fan to stop. Go through the fan, and you’ll be able to pickup the Intrinsic from the box near the light.
Temporal Manipulation Intrinsic 3 Location
This one is found in the big room in Curtilage Divide, the same place where you can get one of the Strangelets for the Explore Kepler: Fabled quest. The flower you need to shoot is near the Relocator platform, but before you shoot it, you’ll need to grab the Matterweave orb at the opposite side of the chasm.
Grab the Matterweave, then go back to the flower. Shoot the flower, then use Matterweave to remove the metal sheets blocking the entrance. Go through the new entrance you made, then pick up the upgrade on the floor.
Temporal Manipulation Intrinsic 4 Location
The final Intrinsic is in the Gorge. Teleport to the Assimilated Easement spawn point, move past the mission banner, then go right. Run past the Hydra, then once you see the banner for the Calculus mission, go through the nearby train. On the other side, follow the tunnels until you reach a ledge. Go to the right side, then keep going until you find a Matterspark tunnel.
Go through the tunnel, then make your way to the abandoned building at the far right side. There will be an open door here that you’ll need to go through. Fight any enemies on the other side, then look up. You should be able to see the flower above you.
Make your way toward the flower, then shoot it. Then, enter ball mode and go through the small tunnel right next to you. The final Intrinsic will be there.
How to Get All Graviton Spike Catalysts
Before we start, take note that you’ll need to play on the Fabled world tier for Kepler before you can get the first two Graviton Spike catalysts. Each catalyst has three parts, and you’ll need to get all of them for the Gravitic Doctorate Triumph.
Graviton Spike Rapid Hit Catalyst 1
The first Rapid Hit catalyst fragment is in Exile’s Accord. Teleport to the Curtilage Divide Landing Zone, then drop down into the ledge below and follow the tunnel in the middle Keep following the tunnel until you find the large room filled with spored-up equipment. Go through the nearby portal, then follow the path until you reach the room filled with enemies.
Clear the Fallen, then follow the path to the right. The flower is right above one of the doorways. Shoot the flower, then enter the doorway to find some glowing lights to your left. Shoot the lights. Next, take the Relocator, go back outside, and fire it at one of the bounce pads near the entrance. Enter the portal that opens to find the first part of the Rapid Hit catalyst.
Graviton Spike Rapid Hit Catalyst 2
The second Rapid Hit fragment is in the Outer Steppes. Teleport to the LZ there, then stick to the left path. Keep following the long path until you reach the area with the buildings. Stick to the left to find an entrance with red lights. Go through it, and follow the path until you reach another open area.
Once you get here, clear the enemies and search for two Rosetta frequencies:
- One is on the cliffs.
- Another is behind the building. Climb the pipe by the ledge to find it.
After shooting both, look for a hidden path near the cliff edge behind the weather balloon. Follow it to find a flower and a moving fan. Shoot the flower, go through the fan, and interact with the Aionian interface to unlock the way to the second Rapid Hit fragment.
Graviton Spike Rapid Hit Catalyst 3
For the third Rapid Hit fragment, go back to Caldera and go down into the Singularity (where you did the final part of EoF’s final mission). Once you spawn back in Caldera, go through the middle Matterspark portal under the stairs. At the other side, follow the canyon until you reach the Singularity.
Once you get there, go to the path on the right past a gaggle of enemies, then Matterspark through the tunnel. Solve the Relocator puzzle on the other side, then go through the big rock wall that opens up after you use Matterweave. Find and shoot the flower in the image above, then go through the obscure tunnel right below it. The final Rapid Hit fragment will be behind the large stone gear.
Graviton Spike Subsistence Catalyst 1
The first Subsistence catalyst starts right where Rapid Hit 3 ends. Shoot the flower above you to go back outside, then go to the cave with the pink glow. Go up to the ledge on the upper left, then make a beeline to the back-left side of the large room. Climb up the first ledge, then start climbing again (do not follow the path forward). Follow the small tunnel upstairs to where you’ll find another flower and fan. Do what you’ve done before to find the first Subsistence fragment.
Graviton Spike Subsistence Catalyst 2
The second part is back in Curtilage Divide. Drop down, then enter the Matterspark portal. On the other side, go left and enter another portal. From there, turn around to find a train sticking out of the wall. Go through it, then follow the path forward past the rails. You’ll find the flower above an entrance barred by another fan with a Relocator platform behind it.
Facing the Relocator pad, turn left until you hit the ledge, Then, turn left to find a path leading to the Relocator. Go back to the flower, pop it, then fire the Relocator at the pad. Then, turn to your right to find a large chasm. Just behind the dome-shaped building to the left of the chasm is the teleporter platform. Go through it, then pick up the second Subsistence fragment.
Graviton Spike Subsistence Catalyst 3
The final Subsistence fragment is back in the Outer Steppes. Teleport to the LZ, then follow the path to the right this time. Keep following the path until you reach the Reactor. To the right side of the entrance, there’s an elevated door that leads to a straightforward path that leads to a large combat area.
Once you reach the combat area, clear all the enemies, then grab the Relocator and Matterweave nearby. Use the Matterweave to reposition a piece of rock holding a Relocator relay. Once it’s up, fire the Relocator at the starting Relay, then go through the portal near where Relocator’s location. On the other side, enter Matterspark form, then charge the Vex pylon.
Head back outside, and you should be able to see a flower and a fan above one of the middle structures. Make your way to it, then you’ll get the Subsistence catalyst inside.
Transcendent Zen Catalyst 1
The final two catalysts for the Graviton Spike can only be obtained on Mythic tier, so if you aren’t strong enough to handle this just yet, farm some missions first and come back later.
The first Transcendent Zen fragment is in Caldera. From the spawn point, head down the stairs, the circle around the main building to the right, past the Postmaster. Once you reach the area with the weather balloon and large jet of Dark Matter, look toward the nearby ledge to find a flower and fan below. Enter it, then open the rooms until you find another Rosetta frequency device. Opening the wrong door will spawn an enemy — stand on the box or the vent above to deal with them. Interact with the Rosetta terminal afterward to get the first catalyst fragment.
Transcendent Zen Catalyst 2
The second catalyst is at the Aionian Campus. Fast travel there, then go to the Matterspark portal to the right of the main building’s entrance. From there, go up the stairs and follow the tunnels to the right until you see another flower. Shoot it, go through the nearby fan, and grab the Matterweave buff.
Head back outside, and go straight to the large room where one of the EoF missions take place. There’s a flower right near the entrance — shoot it, then go through the fan just slightly past it. Use Matterweave to unblock the entrance. Go through the fan, and the catalyst fragment should be in right side of the cave.
Transcendent Zen Catalyst 3
The third fragment is back at the Singularity. Follow the path you used for the Rapid Hit catalyst until you reach the first group of enemies. Instead of going right, head left.
Grab the Matterweave to the left, then use it on one of the metal sheets at the end of the room. After that, head up the ramp near the entrance leading to a Matterspark tunnel. Follow the path, then push forward until you reach the wrecked building at the end past all the enemies.
Head up the building, then go through another Matterspark tunnel in the corner of the room. At the otherside is a flower and a fan on the floor. Go through the fan, then prepare for a boss fight. Since this is Mythic tier, the boss will hit like a truck and take hits like a brick wall. Spawn the boss, go back up the ventilation shaft, and shoot him from there. Once he’s dead, claim the catalyst inside the cave.
Temporal Alignment Catalyst 1
From the last catalyst’s area, head back up through the fan, and go past the open doorway past the ramp on the other side of the Matterspark tunnel. This will lead you to a large room with a Relocator and some Shanks floating above the abyss. Get rid of the Shanks, then from the entrance to the room, turn left and face the small ledge on the wall. Climb onto it, then make your way to the platform at the end.
Your goal here is to reach the opposite end of the chasm by using the mines and buildings along the left wall as platforms. Jump your way across, and once you reach the opposite end, go to the edge and look below. There are platforms there that lead to a switch. Open the switch, then go back outside. Jump your way back to the other side of the chasm where the flower awaits.
Shoot the flower, head through one of the open doors on the wall, then pick up the catalyst fragment at the end.
Temporal Alignment Catalyst 2
This catalyst fragment is in the Gorge. Fast travel to the LZ there, then follow the path to the left. Keep hugging the left wall past the mission flag, then go through the nearby Matterspark tunnel (not the portal). Once you make it to the other side, make your way through the platforming section until you reach the large area with enemies and a spore-covered rock pillar in the middle.
Clear the enemies, then climb up the rock pillar. There’s a platform next to it with a Relocator teleporter pad. Grab the Relocator, shoot the flower at the opposite side of the teleporter platform, then head into the tunnel below the flower’s location. Fire the Relocator at the pad beyond the giant stone fan, then head back to the teleporter. Grab the catalyst from the floor once you reach the other side.
Temporal Alignment Catalyst 3
Go back to Caldera, and once you reach the bottom of the stairs, turn left and go underneath the building there. You’ll find a vent on the ceiling above a pair of pipes.
Climb one of the pipes, use Matterspark, then carefully shimmy your way to the open vent. Jump through the vent to find the catalyst on one of the terminals.
