In Pokemon Legends: Z-A, you can catch Charmander, Squirtle, and
Bulbasaur in Wild Zone 20; however, players will not have access to the area until they’ve beaten the game and rolled credits.
You can still get the iconic starter trio of Pokemon earlier on in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but you’ll only get to choose one out of the three. Here’s how to get one from Mable.
How to Get a Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur Early in Pokemon Legends Z-A
A Call from Mable
So, we’re not entirely sure what exactly triggers the 022 Side Mission from Mable, but we got a call from her after healing our Pokemon at a Pokemon Center once we completed our ninth Side Mission.
We were also on our eighth main quest (to reach Rank V). Some players report that you need to be Rank F, but that’s not the case. If the quest hasn’t started for you, it may also have to do with your Research Rank with Mable.
Once you get the call and the Side Mission starts, you’ll just need to Fast Travel to the Pokemon Research Lab in the southern area of the city (right next to Wild Zone 1). Take the elevator inside to the top floor and speak to Mable. She will let you choose one of the three Kanto starter Pokemon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle.
As a reward for visiting Mable and taking one of the starters, you will get 1000 Poke Dollars, three Extra Small Exp. Candies, and two small Exp. Candies.
How to Mega Evolve Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur in Pokemon Legends Z-A
The Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, northwest of Wild Zone 1, will sell evolution stones and, eventually, Mega Stones for various Pokemon.
As the story progresses, you’ll be able to purchase Stones to Mega Evolve Charizard and Blastoise, but they will cost a pretty penny. As for Venusaurite, there will be a special battle later in the main story that will reward you with the evolution stone.
