There are so many tricks in Skate 4 that it can be hard to keep track of everything. Sometimes, challenges in Skate will ask you to pull off fancy tricks like a Hippy Jump.
Even if you check the Skatepedia trick list, you may not find the Hippy Jump controls with the rest of the tricks. Skate puts tricks in weird categories sometimes, so relying on the in-game trick list can be frustrating. If you’re stuck on a Skate 4 challenge, here’s how you can pull off a Hippy Jump.
How to Hippy Jump in Skate 4
To perform a Hippy Jump in Skate 4, all you have to do is press the X+Square buttons or A+B buttons at the same time, depending on your chosen platform. If you press both of those buttons, your skater will hop into the air while their board keeps moving.
You don’t have to worry about timing your landing or anything like that. Your skater will automatically land safely on their board when they come down. They’ll also follow the board perfectly, so there’s no way to mess up a Hippy Jump unless you send the board into a wall or curb.
You can even mix in some tricks without your board while you’re midair. Rotations and other basic maneuvers still work while you’re doing a Hippy Jump, so you can flex your skating skills and land safely back on your board for a ton of points.
Try mixing in a Hippy Jump into your trick rotation when you’re skating in areas with benches or other small spaces where your board can slide under. Some Skate 4 challenges even specifically require you to Hippy Jump benches, so the game encourages you to pull off fancy trick strings with it.
Hippy Jumps are a core part of your toolset in Skate 4. Make sure you use them often if you want to get the highest-scoring trick strings and complete skate sessions with flying colors. Combined with other flashy moves like Christ Air, you’ll show everyone in San Vansterdam that you’re the coolest skater in town.
