Unpaid Tab has players help to fix up Carcadia, and also assist Zane in getting revenge against Callis. However, this Borderlands 4 main quest isn’t just as simple as shooting your way through everything, as there’s a jamming signal puzzle that might cause some confusion, along with an opportunity to save a beloved NPC before he meets a grizzly end. Below, players can find out how to destroy the jamming device and how to save Quent to ensure the best possible outcome for this main quest.
How to Destroy the Jamming Device in Unpaid Tabs
After defeating the Rippers in Queen’s Cradle with Zane, players can locate a DAHL machine, which has a vent that can be pulled off with the grapple hook. Doing so will allow players to hack the jamming device, but this DAHL machine requires a heavy hand to get it to shut up. In order to destroy the jamming device, head behind the DAHL machine to the south wall to find a grapple point. Climb to the top of the platform above the DAHL machine, and then initiate a ground pound on the device’s raised circle. The ground pound can be activated by holding Circle/B/Ctrl while in the air. Once players hit the circle, the device is destroyed and the puzzle is completed.
How to Save Quent in Unpaid Tabs
What Happens if You Don’t Save Quent?
After defeating Driller Hole in the Ripping Room, players will have 60 seconds to save Quent, or else he will die. In order to save Quent, players must use their grapple hook on the 5 levers around the central platform, so make sure you look up and follow the circular platform around until all 5 levers are pulled. Then, connecting to the pillar are 3 pipes, which can all be destroyed with guns. After the 5 levers and 3 pipes have been destroyed, players will have saved Quent from becoming a Ripper.
If you fail to save Quent by allowing the 60 seconds to pass, the Ripper-making machine will kill him, and Zane will experience rage and grief. There is no difference in mission rewards for saving Quent or letting him die, but it’s best to save him for moral reasons, and because he’s a good man who doesn’t deserve to die. All that happens if Quent dies is a bit of dialogue from Zane, but it doesn’t go any further than that.
