Mythic Tales are some of the best missions players can find in Ghost of Yotei, and The Spider Lily General is further proof of that. Ghost of Yotei features a truly creepy tale of a mourning general, locked away in his estate due to a bloodlust he cannot control. Atsu brings it upon herself to put this man to the sword to be at peace, but are players brave enough? If you need a full walkthrough of The Spider Lily General Mythic Tale, or you simply need to know how to find the keys and complete the maze to get the Spider Lily Armor, then this guide has you covered on all fronts.
How to Start The Spider Lily General Tale in Ghost of Yotei
Players can start The Spider Lily General Mythic Tale by heading south of Huranui’s Rest Inn in Tokachi Range. In the far south region, you’ll find the Shizaunai Woods, with a Mysterious Gate that’s locked up tight. Approaching the gate will see Atsu stopped by Ugetsu the Storyteller, who will tell the tale of the Spider Lily General who lurks inside. With the story told by Ugetsu, players can now step into the mysterious gate and enter the Abandoned Tominaga Estate. Players will want to follow the path north until they find a locked gate that has 4 locks, and now it’s time to locate the 4 keys in The Spider Lily General.
How to Find the Pagoda Key in Ghost of Yotei
Once players have entered the Haunted Plateau, they will want to head to the right to the large towering building. At the back of this building is a chest that players can open, and they will find the Pagoda Key inside. This is the easiest key to find as it’s just a few steps from the main locked gate, but be warned, it gets creepier from here on out.
How to Find the Gravestone Key in Ghost of Yotei
The next key that players will want to locate is the Gravestone Key. From the locked door, head to the right through the east path to follow a linear courtyard. Be warned, there are some hostile outlaws in this area, so be ready for a fight. After killing these foes, continue on the linear path where you will eventually reach the Graveyard. After challenging the outlaws here to a fight, the key will be found at the largest gravestone at the back of the graveyard, just by a corpse, a shovel, and a wooden plank. With this key acquired, follow the path back to the main area.
How to Find the Maze Key in Ghost of Yotei
How to Solve the Maze in Ghost of Yotei
Players will want to head left of the locked gate in the Abandoned Tominaga Estate, where venturing west will take them to a bamboo maze, marked with a flag outside. Once players head inside, they will notice the Misty Valley Bamboo Strike, but ignore this for now. In order to solve the maze and get the Maze Key, players must follow the path that has the spider lilies, which are the red flowers scattered on the floor, guiding them to the right path. The spider lilies will only guide you to the start of the correct route, so once you locate it and enter through, you will arrive back at the start of the maze, but the spider lilies will have moved to a different route. By following the correct route three times, you will spawn with the Bamboo Strike activity available and the Maze Key waiting beside it.
How to Find the Cave Key in Ghost of Yotei
Now, continue heading west, right of the Abandoned Tominaga Estate’s main entrance, where you will stumble upon the Southern Caves. Don’t worry about the outlaw by the entrance, and don’t fall for his dying fears. Enter the cave and follow the linear path forward, where you will eventually come across a wall you can climb. Climb the wall and continue on the only path available, where you can squeeze through the cave and eventually find cave paintings done by the Spider Lily General’s daughter. In this cave, there is a key by some paint pots.
How to Open the Spider Lily General’s Gate & Find Him in Ghost of Yotei
Once you have acquired all four keys, return to the locked gate of the Abandoned Tominaga Estate, where you can interact with it to open what’s inside. You can investigate the building in here for a bit more lore, but it’s unimportant. All you need to do is head to the right through a door that you can open, which takes you to the dueling yard. Follow through the linear path of the dueling yard where you will eventually find a bamboo wall that can be destroyed with your grapple, and upon squeezing through the crack, you will be face-to-face with the Spider Lily Genera.
How to Beat the Spider Lily General in Ghost of Yotei
The Spider Lily General is a rather tough opponent, and while Ugetsu tells of how he accidentally poisoned his own daughter, you won’t have to worry about such ailments. The Spider Lily General has no special attacks to look out for, as he’s just a fast samurai. However, that doesn’t mean you should play cocky. Wait for the Spider Lily General to attack and time your dodges and parries well. The Spider Lily General loves to use a few blue glint attacks, which must be parried, and then follow up with a few red glint attacks, which must be dodged. Take your time to stagger him and damage him between parries, and when his health is low enough, he will stop the fight. All that’s left to do is walk up the rock path where you can find the Spider Lily General Armor to claim for yourself, and upon doing so, the region will be cleared of the cursed mist, and you will have completed the Mythic Tale of the Spider Lily General.
What Does the Spider Lily General Armor Do & How to Upgrade It in Ghost of Yotei
The Spider Lily Armor provides players with three unique buffs:
- Enemies have a minor chance to drop throwable weapons.
- Stagger damage inflicted by melee weapons increases by a minor amount.
- Staggering an enemy has a minor chance of dealing minor Stagger damage to nearby enemies.
Players can upgrade this armor an additional 3 times at the Armorer at any Inn and Village for Coin, Textiles, and Metals. Upgrading the armor will see the “minor” buff increased to “moderate”. As for the usefulness of the armor, players will want to use the Spider Lily Armor if they like using throwable weapons and enjoy Staggering enemies, which is achieved through parries and breaking their guard with Triangle attacks.
