Ghost of Yotei has an extensive filled with Side Tales to complete, bounties to track down, and collectibles to be found. Luckily, the different weapons in the game are quite easy to acquire, as the quests surrounding these weapons are pretty straightforward. However, the difficult thing is reaching the Master in the first place.
The Kusarigama is a weapon located at Owl Mountain, and the guide below offers an easy route to reach the location quickly while avoiding enemies and freezing to death in Ghost of Yotei.
How to Reach Owl Mountain in Ghost of Yotei
Upon reaching the region up north, Teshio Ridge, players will be introduced to a new game mechanic that causes their health bar to start freezing. This reduces your max health and also impairs your vision if you stay in the cold areas for too long. After the opening section with the Kitsune is over and you scout the region, you will find The Way of the Kusarigama quest marked on your map, rewarding you with the Kusarigama. However, this is all the way north at the Owl Mountain.
Since the Red Crane Inn will also be marked on your map and is your next main story location, start by going there. You do not need to enter the Inn and start the story segment. Simply reaching the location will open it as a fast travel point, and you can make your way to Owl Mountain from here. On the way, there are a few sections where you will start freezing and might even encounter a bounty target, so caution is advised.
From the Inn, start heading northwest towards the Teshio River. You will spot a wooden house to your right, which means you are on the right path. Keep following the ice river left of the house. Keep following this river until you spot a path on the right, which leads to the Kitsune Altar at the Sarobetsu Forest, where you can get one of the many puzzles.
From here, go further north until you reach the Sarobetsu Lake. If this is your first time here, you will come across quite a few enemies standing next to the dead bodies, along with Snowstorm Katagiri, who is a bounty target.
You can ignore them if you want and keep riding, but if you manage to beat these enemies and the target, you can get 1500 Coins from Kojiro.
At the Sarobetsu Lake, you will start freezing, but you need to reach the Nakajima Sake House. You can catch your breath over there and head back out. Start riding north on your horse now, along the frozen lake and through the orange trees. Soon, you will spot a road you can follow. When the road splits near the wooden carvings, head left and follow this path to the bridge up ahead.
This is the Owl Mountain, and right as you cross the bridge, The Way of the Kusarigama will begin. You will get the Kusarigama weapon straight away, but it is not until the end of the quest that you can leave this area with the weapon and use it to make quick work of the shield enemies.
