There are over 40 bosses in Silksong, but players do not have to beat all of them to complete the game. Some optional bosses are some of the hardest encounters in Silksong, especially if you try to take them on too early.
The Savage Beastfly is one such optional boss that presents one of the most challenging fights in the early game of Silksong. This Silksong Savage Beastfly boss guide explains where to find this incredibly tough boss, how to counter its moveset, and what you will get for beating the Savage Beastfly.
Savage Beastfly Location
Chapel of the Beast, Hunter’s March
To get to the Savage Beastfly, Silksong players must first unlock access to Hunter’s March by defeating the Skarrguard in The Marrow – just above Grindle’s prison building on the far right of the zone. The Chapel of the Beast is located at the far right of the Hunter’s March zone, past several rooms filled with Skarr Ant enemies, jumping puzzles, and deadly spikes.
Savage Beastfly is technically an optional boss in Silksong, though the reward for beating it makes this tough boss fight worth trying early. If this boss proves to be too challenging, mark its location on your map with a Shell Marker, then return to it later on when you have more HP, an upgraded needle, and an expanded suite of abilities.
Closest Bench & Optimal Runback Route to Savage Beastfly
At the top of the room with the air vent leading upward in Hunter’s March, you will see a broken sign pointing to a room on the left. There is a bench in this room, but it’s trapped. Enter a secret room to the left of this bench, then hit the lever to disable the trap and safely rest on the bench.
The fastest and safest route to the Chapel of the Beast is to go right from this bench, drop down the air vent room, then float with the Drifter’s Cloak into the entrance on the bottom-right of this tall room. Then, use the Swift Step ability to quickly dash across this long room – jump over the trap and Skarr enemy about halfway through.
Finally, float up the air vent up to reach the entrance to the Chapel of the Beast. A shortcut to the Boss room can be unlocked by hitting a lever after a room with waves of enemies deeper within the Chapel.

How To Beat The Savage Beastfly in Silksong
The Savage Beastfly essentially has two phases. In the first phase, it will either track your location and charge across the room or charge across the floor.
After you deal enough damage to it, the Beastfly will roar and call other Fly enemies to its aid. This indicates the beginning the second phase of the Savage Beastfly boss fight as it gains a new Triple Slam move.
To beat the Savage Beastfly, Silksong players must find opportunities to heal during the fight, navigate the small boss arena while avoiding multiple enemies, and take advantage of brief opportunities to attack.
- After the boss performs a Low Charge attack, jump into the air for a good opportunity to Bind. Be quick, though, as the boss usually follows up a Low Charge with a mid-air Targeted Charge.
- After you stagger the boss once, it will roar and summon multiple allies to its side. During this phase, when the boss performs its Triple Slam, aim it above its allies to make it destroy them with its own attacks.
- The best opportunities to attack the Savage Beastfly are during its Slam, Targeted Charge, and Roar attacks. With good timing, you can hit the boss twice as it resets between each slam, twice as it flies over Hornet’s head, and about four times during its Roar.

When the boss slams down, it will kill its own summons if they are beneath it, making this portion of the fight significantly easier. |
Tips to Beat the Savage Beastfly
-
Stay aggressive as you fight the Savage Beastfly. If you stagger it right before a Roar, it won’t be able to summon allies.
- During a stagger, you can get about three or four hits in, depending on how close you are to the boss when it triggers.
- This is also an excellent opportunity to Bind and heal if you are low on HP.
- Equip the Warding Bell, a blue Tool that prevents Hornet from taking damage while using her Bind skill.
- Bring either the Straight Pin or Sting Shard to this fight to help clear summons faster.
Reward for Beating the Savage Beastfly Boss
After defeating the Savage Beastfly, Silksong players will gain access to one of the three unlockable Crests in the game. Each Chapel is named after one of these Crests, and in this case, completing the Chapel of the Beast by beating the Savage Beastfly rewards the Beast Crest.
In Silksong, Crests change Hornet’s moveset and grant her new layouts to socket equippable Tools and skills. The default Crest, for example, features a red, a yellow, and a blue slot.
The Beast Crest features two red Tool slots by default, which is one fewer than any other Crest in Silksong. However, the Beast Crest also grants Hornet an extremely powerful ability whenever she uses the Bind skill.
Instead of recovering HP, Binding with the Beast Crest equipped puts Hornet into a kind of Rage mode where her attacks deal more damage and hits recover HP.
While the Beast Crest is equipped, Hornet will attack with a short-range claw swipe instead of a mid-range needle slash. Additionally, her aerial downward attack is replaced with a spinning attack that follows a slightly more horizontal trajectory.
