A new Pokemon GO chart is showing off the different rates for Shiny Pokemon within the monster-catching mobile game, breaking down each different tier of Shiny encounter. The beloved mobile game has given fans plenty of reason to celebrate in recent weeks, following the launch of the newest season with “Tales of Transformation.” Pokemon GO ran its City Safari live event last month in different cities, alongside several new Pokemon and forms like Dynamax Duraludon and Mega Camerupt being added in September. Now, a recent chart is pulling back the curtain on Pokemon GO‘s most elusive creatures.
Much like the main-series games, Shiny Pokemon can be some of the hardest Pokemon variants to acquire within Pokemon GO. Shiny Pokemon typically have exceptionally low spawn rates, with the appearance of a Shiny Pokemon often being something players have to work towards or something that catches the player by surprise. Pokemon GO does make catching Shiny Pokemon easier with some of its events, featuring increased spawn rates during events like Raid Day and Community Day. Pokemon GO fans are now getting a better idea of how hard Shiny Pokemon are to find.
A chart made by Pokemon GO fansite Pokedex 100 and shared to the Pokemon GO subreddit breaks down the encounter rates for different types of Shiny Pokemon. Raid Days, Hatch Days, and Field Research Days all boast the highest Shiny encounter rate, with Shiny Pokemon appearing roughly once in every 10 encounters. Raid-Exclusive Legendaries and Mythical Pokemon have fairly high rates as well at 1 in every 20 Pokemon, while Community Days offer 1-in-24 encounter rates. The chart also reveals that Mega Pokemon have higher Shiny rates than normal Pokemon, with 1 in 128 Mega Pokemon being Shiny.

Pokemon GO continues to introduce new Shiny Pokemon to the game frequently, often emphasizing Shiny Pokemon with its newest events. Pokemon GO‘s “Psychic Spectacular 2025” event in September added Indeedee to the game for the first time, with the eighth-generation Pokemon’s launch coming alongside its shiny form. The game’s recurring Community Day events also give fans a chance to pick up Shiny versions of older Pokemon, with Solosis already confirmed to be October 2025’s featured Pokemon.
Pokemon GO fans should have lots to look forward to throughout October, with the franchise’s newest big release bringing some special content. Pokemon Legends: Z-A will officially debut in just a couple of weeks, with Pokemon GO offering increased spawn rates for Legends: Z-A‘s Starter Pokemon. October will also play host to the Festival of Lights event in India, featuring light-themed Pokemon like Tadbulb, Chinchou, and Litwick. Pokemon GO will have a busy month ahead with plenty of exciting events for fans to experience.
