Following its high-profile launch, Hades 2 gets its first post-launch update, fixing bugs and making tweaks to the gameplay, including adjustments to one of the more controversial boss fights. Similar to its predecessor, Hades 2 spent a good chunk of time in Early access, with Supergiant Games slowly building out its latest title with the help of updates and community feedback.
That level of patience seems to have paid off once again as Hades 2 has already become a huge hit for the studio. Considering how many awards and the overall level of success the first Hades achieved, this news isn’t too surprising. However, successfully following up on such a massive hit isn’t always easy, and even though Hades 2 isn’t yet available on all platforms, the quick start is a great sign. However, even though the game has launched, Supergiant is continuing to tweak the experience for players.
Please be aware, there are potential spoilers for certain bosses and in-game items. On September 30, Supergiant Games released its first post-launch update for Hades 2 in the form of a hotfix. While not nearly as big as the Day One update for Hades 2, Hotfix 1 adds some important fixes for many bugs currently impacting players, ranging from achievements not unlocking, interactions not triggering as expected, and even some odd character behaviors like Hecuba just running back and forth in the chamber with Narcissus.
However, one of the bigger adjustments made in this hotfix is to the Hades 2 mini-boss known as Phantom. Located in the Fields of Mourning, the Phantom has proven to be a frustrating encounter as it can teleport around using its long-range attacks while also having a relatively large health pool. At this point, even summoners who raise allies to help them found that the Phantom was able to drain their health, rendering them largely useless. Thankfully, that seemed to be a bug as the hotfix has made it, so the Phantom can no longer drain the health of raised allies.
Even with Hades 2 earning a strong start on PC and the Nintendo Switch consoles, players can look forward to a physical release in November, as well as an eventual launch on other platforms like Xbox and PlayStation. As for what’s next, Supergiant has already addressed calls for a potential new game in the franchise. Despite the success, Supergiant isn’t guaranteeing Hades 3, as the studio typically works on one game at a time through an interative style process of building, testing, and revising.
