Grounded 2 Reveals Early Access Roadmap

Grounded 2 developer Obsidian Entertainment has shared an early access roadmap for the game which highlights a variety of improvements and additions that players can look forward to in future updates. Grounded 2 serves as a sequel to Obsidian’s popular multiplayer survival game, Grounded, which similarly saw an initial release in early access back in 2020 before officially launching in 2022.

Obsidian has not only been busy working on Grounded 2 – it’s also set to release The Outer Worlds 2 on October 24. Both games follow the successful launch of Avowed, another Obsidian title released back in February to positive fan and critic reception alike. It’ll be interesting to see if the response to The Outer Worlds 2 will be as well-received, especially compared to the positive reception Avowed and Grounded 2 have had so far.

Obsidian has shared a content roadmap for Grounded 2 in a post published to the developer’s official website following the game’s early access release on July 29. The roadmap image reveals several updates that are planned for Grounded 2 which span from Fall 2025 and extend into Summer 2026, along with a “future plans” list featuring other items the developer intends to introduce at some point in the game’s early access lifecycle.

What’s Included in the Grounded 2 Early Access Roadmap?

The Fall Update for Grounded 2 will introduce AXL Recipes and AXL’s Arena, alongside new armor, weapons, furniture, and a new Park Boss for players to discover. Quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes are also planned during this period. Meanwhile, the Winter Update promises Steam Deck verification and ROG Ally support, along with crossplay, which is great for players looking to play co-op with their friends in Grounded 2. In contrast, the Summer Update is set to be largely water-themed and will add Ziplines along with Watery Creatures, equipment, and bases.

Obsidian’s comprehensive roadmap demonstrates its commitment to expanding Grounded 2 throughout its early access period. Given that there’s already plenty to see and do in Brookhollow Park, in addition to the fact that content updates are planned through Summer 2026, the developer appears to be taking a methodical approach to building upon the foundation established by the original Grounded.

Grounded 2 has already attracted significant player interest in its early access launch. The robustness of its new roadmap, including the logical progression of upgradeable weapons and armor in Grounded 2, should help maintain long-term engagement. The mix of proposed improvements also suggests that Obsidian firmly understands what made the first game successful.
