Forza Horizon 6 has been officially revealed, and as rumors indicated, the next chapter in the racing series will see the Horizon Festival move to Japan. Officially unveiled in an Instagram teaser video ahead of the Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show, the game launches in 2026 and it will be available on Xbox Game Pass. In a statement, Microsoft confirmed a PS5 release to come later. “Playground Games and Turn 10 Studios are working together to bring Forza Horizon 6 to PlayStation 5 post-launch,” Microsoft said.
Rumors of a new Forza Horizon game began picking up earlier this year following leaks from reliable sources. After an Australian car import company uploaded an Instagram post that showed a rare compact Japanese car being scanned by a Playground Games employee. This is also the first new Forza Horizon game in quite some time, as the last entry was Forza Horizon 5 in 2021.
Since then, there have been big changes at Microsoft as it adopted a multiplatform release strategy, bringing several of its titles to PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 5 was the best-selling game on PS5 this year, per gaming analyst Alinea, and across its lifetime, the game reached 50 million players across all platforms.
