Released on September 25, 2025, EA Sports FC 26 has received nearly 52% negative reviews on Steam, making it one of the least popular entries in the series. EA Sports FC 26 started as one of the highly wishlisted games on Steam and remains among the top-grossing titles on the platform. However, the popular soccer simulator appears to be in trouble as more players keep expressing their dissatisfaction.
Despite being one of the biggest sports game franchises of all time, EA Sports FC has struggled in recent years. The previous four entries have mostly failed to satisfy the target audience, with the majority of complaints coming from the PC versions. That said, the latest installment has now set an unfortunate record, becoming one of the most disliked entries in the series.
Only 48% of EA Sports FC 26 Players on Steam Are Happy
A quick look at EA’s latest soccer simulator shows it has reached an unfortunate milestone, receiving Mixed reviews on Steam. Only 48% of players who have tried the game seem satisfied, while 52% do not recommend it. For comparison, EA Sports FC 25 had 51% positive user scores, and the 2023 edition received 56% positive reviews on Steam.
It appears that one of the biggest issues in EA Sports FC 26 is delayed inputs during online play, which the developer had previously claimed to have resolved after extensive testing. Other common complaints include frame rate drops, controller connectivity problems, matchmaking imbalances, and generally poor PC optimization.
What’s worse for PC fans is that EA Sports FC 26 was recently caught up in an FC Point controversy, which many believe has caused major problems in Ultimate Team matches. A few days after the global launch, reports emerged that a glitch in the Indonesian store allowed players to buy thousands of FC Points for a fraction of their actual price. Many PC players reportedly exploited this glitch to gain an unfair advantage in Ultimate Team, forcing thousands of console gamers to disable crossplay just to avoid them.
Despite the Mixed reviews on Steam, EA Sports FC 26 appears to be holding steady in terms of player count. Recent data shows no significant drop in concurrent players since launch, suggesting that many unhappy fans may still be playing on PC. Whether future updates can help EA Sports FC 26 recover and win back its fan base remains to be seen. At this point, however, and given that most previous EA Sports FC installments on Steam have also received Mixed reviews, a redemption seems unlikely.
