For those who are about to complete Dying Light: The Beast, know that this is merely the start of the adventure, and there are still plenty of things to do after beating the Main Story Quest. Besides the obvious killing and looting, players can partake in many side-activities, such as quests, chasing secrets, and unlocking powerful Legendary Weapons.
Some of these activities are well hidden, so this guide will help players know exactly what’s left to do in Castor Woods after beating Dying Light: The Beast for the first time. So take note of these ten things to do after completing the game.
Complete Outpost Challenges to Unlock Special Rewards
Outpost challenges are community-driven quests that can be accessed by linking Techland accounts to Dying Light: Outpost, and can be completed to obtain special rewards like the broken Hellfire Shotgun (which can also be increased in quality up to Legendary), the Spectral Bat, or the Hussar sword. Of course, players might need to complete difficult tasks like slaying ten Volatiles without dying, or running 10000 meters in only one night, but they are definitely worth the trouble.
Find All Hidden Treasure Maps in Castor Woods
Treasure Maps are spread across Castor Woods, and some of them can be spotted in Safe Zones or near Workbenches. These mostly lead to interesting loot like Military Medkits (which are quite scarce) or some Stat Boosters that can greatly help Kyle deal with some of the most powerful enemies in the game. In other cases, Treasure Maps (like D3) lead to Safes, which need to be opened, introducing a certain combination. If players want to find it all, including some of the most powerful weapons in the game, they should pay attention to these Treasure Hunt clues.
Collect All Beaver Statues
Beaver Statues are special collectibles that are well hidden throughout Castor Woods, and are needed for the secret achievement/trophy “Know What ‘Castor’ Means?” The first of these stattuetes is placed conveniently in the open, at the entrance of the Town Hall, but the rest of them will be a little bit harder to find.
If players want to complete Dying Light: The Beast at 100%, they will need to investigate the areas around The Monastery, The Art Gallery, The Library, The Power Plant, and the dangerous St. Valentine Asylum to recover all statues.
Find All Secret Recording Tapes
Yet another monumental task that will have players running around every POI and every secret place in Dying Light: The Beast. These tape recordings reveal some of the truth behind the vicious Baron and his experiments, while also shedding light on what happened during the 13 years that Kyle Crane missed during his imprisonment.
Find All Newspapers
The Castor Woods Newspapers are another secret collectible, needed for the achievement ‘Cabinet of Curiosities.’ Some of these newspapers can be found throughout the Main Story Quest and contain useful information, such as clues about Castor Woods’ secret hideouts and past events. Again, these are only collectibles, but if players want to platinum Dying Light: The Beast, getting these is a must.
Complete All Racing Mini-Game Challenges
Once players complete The Fast and Fortunate secondary quest, which is a clear reference to a Street Racing Movie Series, they will not only gain the ability to repair their vehicles with the Vehicle Repair Kit blueprints they will receive as a reward, but will also unlock new racing challenges all around Castor Woods. These are a cool way to complete the game at 100% and a decent way to get another of the secret achievements/trophies, which requires killing 500 Zombies while driving. Besides, each circuit has its own level of difficulty, and completing them all might require more than just driving around and smashing zombies.
Each racing challenge has 3 different prizes: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medals, and each of them rewards the players with some extra Old World Money, and the satisfaction of beating some of the most difficult circuits in the post-apocalyptic world of Dying Light: The Beast.
Find Every Mural
Murals (graffiti) are now a part of the Dying Light universe since the DL 2: Stay Human introduced them, with some of them created by the talented artist Anna Krzemień, who painted some of the magnificent pieces located around Old Villedor. Now, in Dying Light: The Beast, these paintings are also located around Castor Woods, and can be found if players pay special attention to their surroundings.
Some, like the Neighbors Mural near the bridge connecting the Old Town area with The Villa Area are easy to spot, but others require players to be sneaking around uncomfortable places, which are most likely crawling with infected. Be it as it may, finding them all will unlock a special achievement/trophy, and the satisfaction of witnessing the fusion between street art and gaming.
Collect Every Sigil Stone And Unlock EXPCalibur II
The Sigil Stones hidden around Castor Woods are part of the requirements to unlock the powerful Two-Handed Legendary Weapon EXPCalibur II, which cuts down enemies in a matter of seconds, and can be crafted as long as players have the required mats. Some of these stones are really hard to spot, but if players activate their Survivor Sense around the area where they are, they will be able to spot them.
Besides, it is totally worth a try to get this weapon before the game ends, but it might require some delving into dangerous areas that are plagued with strong infested (like the Asylum Island) so be extremely careful while looking for the Sigil Stones.
Collect All Mysterious Sticks And Fix The Beaver Dam
One of the strangest and most difficult Easter Eggs to spot is that of the Beaver Dam and the Mysterious Sticks spread through the map. These elusive collectibles will help players repair the dam and unlock one of the most broken weapons in the whole game: The Beaver’s Stick. This one-handed club (branch) has a 100% Knockdown chance, meaning that it will send enemies flying all the time.
Find All Castor Woods Recipes
The Castor Woods Recipes are collectibles that players can actually use as a base to cook in real-life dishes, and are spread through the map of Dying Light: The Beast. While some of these are obviously difficult to spot, some others are hidden in plain sight. The best way to find them all is to check all buildings that look like cafeterias, hotels, and big houses in residential areas like Golden Pines and The Vale.
This is also associated with the ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’ achievement/trophy, so completionist players might want to take a look at this full map of Castor Woods to pinpoint the exact location of each of these elusive secret recipes. Funnily enough, some of these recipes are placed alongside certain environmental clues to find treasure, or paper notes that lead to safes and their passwords. So, be on the lookout for extra loot.
Collect All Secret Legendary Weapons
Legendary Weapons have been a part of Dying Light ever since the first game, with some of them (like the Hand of Glova or EXPCalibur) being so powerful and having such wacky special properties that they do a complete turnover of the gameplay experience.
Over a dozen Legendary Special Weapons are waiting to be found out there, including the already mentioned EXPCalibur II (which might be the hardest one to get) and the Beaver’s Stick. Players in need of some help to pinpoint the location of every Legendary Weapon should take a look at this guide.
