A new Dragon Ball game is set to be unveiled at a special event in January 2026, adding another option for players who can’t get enough of Goku and his friends. There are already a wide variety of actively updated Dragon Ball games across consoles, PC, and mobile devices, but it sounds like another entry will be joining their ranks soon.
When Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero was released in October 2024, it revived and improved the historic Budokai Tenkaichi fighting game series, which had enjoyed considerable popularity in the early 2000s. It certainly wasn’t alone in the market, however, as fellow fighting game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and action RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot were and are still very much alive, as both have received updates within the past couple of days. Bandai Namco also has a mix of mobile Dragon Ball games on offer, including Dragon Ball Legends, Dragon Ball Gekishin Squadra, and Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle.
New Dragon Ball Game to Be Announced on January 25, 2026
Even with all those games on the market, a new entry to the growing list of active Dragon Ball games is set to be revealed during a special event on January 25, 2026, just outside of Tokyo. As spotted by Gamepressure, the Dragon Ball Genki Dama Festival will be taking place on that date, and one of the events listed in the Stage section of its websitementions a “New game super announcement.” Given that a separate time slot has been set aside for an update reveal for Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, it’s implied that this announcement will be related to an entirely new game, and not an update or expansion for one of the other Dragon Ball games currently available.
Not much is known about what this new game could entail, but fans are already offering their best guesses. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 got its Dragon Ball Daima DLC in May, but that game will be hitting its ninth anniversary later this month, and plenty of fans seem ready for a sequel. Some others are hoping for a sequel to the 2D fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ, while PlayStation 3-era fighter Dragon Ball: Raging Blast has also been mentioned for a revival.
A few fans are even hoping for a new entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Although Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero released its latest DLC less than a month ago, bumping up its roster to over 200 playable characters, there has been no official confirmation that a second season pass will be released, and rumors of it being a “dead game” on social media platforms like Reddit have been a common trend in the past few weeks.
