One big question fans have is whether or not progress made in the demo will carry over to the full game, and it’s one we don’t have an answer for at time of writing. No other details about what will be contained in the demo, or if progress will carry over, have been released.
In a recent three-hour preview, writer Jess Reyes came away impressed at how Digimon Story: Time Stranger’s new-and-improved battle system and its monster-raising elements combined to form what looks to be a promising return to the digital world. Producer Ryosuke Hara said the team looked to improve the games’ battle system this time around to make it more balanced, resulting in what Reyes described as possibly the franchise’s most comprehensive battle system yet.
Those interested don’t need to have watched older Digimon shows or played the previous Digimon Story game, 2016’s Cyber Sleuth, in order to understand this game’s story, which revolves around a secret agent investigating a mysterious city-leveling explosion that is somehow connected to the digital world. For those more interesting in raising their digital monsters, there will be more than 450 Digimon featured in Time Stranger.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger releases October 2 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and there are a number of Digimon Story: Time Stranger preorder bonuses, including Black Agumon, Black Gabumon, and new costumes. A digital deluxe edition includes the game’s season pass, as well as a Cyber Sleuth-inspired costume set.
