I’ve now put well over 200 hours into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, on just one playthrough, so I don’t even really need to mention how excited I’ve been about the release of its Legacy of the Forge DLC. In fact, it’s safe to say I’ve been looking forward to this 15-20 hour expansion just as much as I have some of 2025’s biggest games, like Borderlands 4 and Ghost of Yotei. A lot of that excitement started to build the more I heard about what Legacy of the Forge would bring to the game, but as a massive fan of the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance and now its sequel, I was honestly already sold on the DLC a long time ago.
After watching Warhorse’s livestream of the expansion ahead of its release, though, I could hardly contain myself. That Legacy of the Forge would give me the same style of gameplay as a title like Stardew Valley but set in medieval Bohemia is all I needed to see and hear, and while that set certain expectations for the expansion that have since been met, there are still some aspects of it that I didn’t expect at all. One feature, in particular, broke me from one of my worst habits in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Even though I knew it was coming per Warhorse’s confirmation, putting it into practice was entirely different from simply hearing about it.
KCD2: Legacy of the Forge’s Sales Chest Breaks My Hoarding Habit
I’ve Been Hoarding Items Because I’m Too Lazy to Sell Them
Anyone who has put as many hours (or more) as I have into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely plenty rich at this point, especially if they’re as good at thievery as I am. Morality and ethics aside, using Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s stealth system to rob businesses and rich households has been one of my favorite pastimes — after all, you can’t spell “stealth” without “steal.” However, this also quickly led to my pockets and stash overflowing with far too many expensive items, and I haven’t been able to keep up with selling them due to the game’s economy and the way its encumbrance system works.
Since merchants in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 each have a limited amount of Groschen they can offer players in exchange for items, just one valuable item can often drain them of all their money — and that’s if I didn’t steal it all from their chest beforehand. Then there’s the game’s encumbrance system, which will only allow me to carry a certain amount of items at one time without being forced to walk slowly everywhere I go. With so many valuable weapons and armor to sell, eventually, I reached a point where the whole process of walking back and forth between merchants and my stash was exhausting, so I quit altogether and hoarded everything in my stash in case I needed to make a quick buck at some point.
Legacy of the Forge’s Sales Chest Lets Me Sell Items Without Thinking About It
That day never really came, though, as my thieving ways kept my pockets full of plenty of Groschen. Then, in walks Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Legacy of the Forge DLC with a solution to my hoarding problem: a Sales Chest. Essentially, it works the same as shipping does in Stardew Valley, which allows players to sell their items by simply placing them in the shipping bin at their house, after which the items are picked up and sold automatically at the end of each day. In the same way, with the Sales Chest in Legacy of the Forge, I can put all of those items I’ve been hoarding in it, and they will gradually be sold — and the best part is that I don’t have to do any of the legwork.
It’s a fantastic breath of fresh air, really, that I can actually earn money from all of these items I’ve been hoarding (potentially around 100,000 Groschen’s worth), and I don’t have to go through the trouble of hauling them from one merchant to the next. Instead, I can simply put them in the chest, then periodically check in with Magdalena, who keeps an eye on the forge while I’m busy or away, and she’ll grant me any coin I’ve made from the items. There are plenty of things Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Legacy of the Forge DLC does extremely well, but this is probably one of my favorite additions.
