A new Pokemon Trading Card Game fan got incredibly lucky when pulling their first ex card, getting Lillie’s Clefairy. Their pull is one of several chase cards that Pokemon TCG introduced in 2025, and it quickly became one of the most beloved by the community.
Pokemon TCG presented the first Clefairy card in 1999 with the release of the Base Set, featuring an illustration by the legendary Ken Sugimori. Since then, the Gen 1 Pokemon has gained 30 other cards over the years, as a Colorless-type, Fairy-type, or Psychic-type, depending on the expansion released. Interestingly, despite being a well-known Pokemon, Clefairy does not have many high-rarity cards like other Kanto monsters, such as Charizard and Mewtwo. However, it does have one card that is highly coveted by the community, and a Pokemon TCG fan recently had a lucky encounter with it.
Brand New Pokemon TCG Fan Pulls Their First Ex Card, Gets Lillie’s Clefairy
On the Pokemon TCG subreddit, user v4mpyy__ shared their first ex card pull: Lillie’s Clefairy. Excited, they explain that they are new to collecting Pokemon cards, having joined the fandom just a month ago. Other redditors congratulated them on the pull, as Lillie’s Clefairy is a Pokemon ex Special Illustration Rare card, one of the highest rarities that exist in Pokemon TCG. According to PokeDATA, a raw Lillie’s Clefairy ex can cost $123.19 on eBay, with several copies having sold for prices between $400 and $600. The most expensive sale recorded by the site was for a raw card that went for $700.
Lillie’s Clefairy ex debuted in March 2025 with the release of the expansion Journey Together, the ninth of the Scarlet and Violet era that marked the return of Trainer’s Pokemon cards. With 190 cards for players to collect, Journey Together features four variations of Lillie’s Clefairy ex, with the one obtained by OP featuring cute artwork by Susumu Maeya. The Regular and Ultra Rare variants feature artwork by 5ban Graphics, while the Promotional SVP card is illustrated by PLANETA Tsuji.
Pokemon TCG fans are having a blast in 2025 with several releases. The latest is Black Bolt and White Flare, a special set that celebrates the pocket monsters of Unova and introduces the new Black White Rare card rarity. With the release of this expansion, the next to hit the shelves will be Mega Evolution, which will come out on September 26, featuring over 180 cards and reintroducing Mega Evolutions as Pokemon ex.
