Bop It has returned in video game form, with Game Rant bringing an exclusive first look at it. Simply called Bop It! The Video Game, the new version of the iconic game is now available on PC and several other platforms, with pricing differing by storefront.
Designed by Dan Klitsner, Bop It began as a Hasbro line of audio toys in 1996. All revolved around the premise of listening to rapid-fire voice commands to bop, twist, or pull the device playing them. As the player succeeded in following these instructions, the tempo would gradually increase, making the game more and more challenging. The concept was a massive hit, with Bop It spawning numerous iterations and even some brand collaborations that continue to this day.
In the latest testament to this trend, Bop It! The Video Game has been shadow dropped on September 18. Game Rant can exclusively share its launch trailer, which reveals a bit of gameplay to the tune of some super catchy music. Being a video game, this latest take on the classic formula doesn’t have a physical Bop It controller, with all the action instead taking place via a screen, controller, or keyboard, depending on the device.
Bop It! The Video Game Features Soundtrack by 2 Mello
While it incorporates some instantly recognizable audio cues, much of Bop It! The Video Game revolves around a new original soundtrack authored by renowned hip hop artist and longtime video game composer 2 Mello, real name Matthew Hopkins. The Kentucky-based producer has previously worked on titles including Ghosts of Miami, Celeste, and 2064: Read Only Memories.

Developed by Alliance Games, Bop It! The Video Game was shadow-dropped for the Nintendo Switch, PC, macOS, and mobile devices on September 18. It retails for $7.99 on Steam, Mac App Store, and Nintendo’s eShop. The Android and iOS versions are free-to-play, with some limitations. Specifically, only the Shapes-themed levels are included for free, with the game itself also being supported by ads. For a full and ad-free experience, mobile users can pay a one-time fee of $2.99, which will unlock three more level packs: Space, City, and Office.
True to the toy line that inspired it, Bop It! The Video Game tasks players with following escalating commands across four animated worlds as the soundtrack’s BPM climbs—a formula that’s likely to appeal to fans of rhythm games like Guitar Hero. Apart from this “Endless Classic” experience, the title also incorporates an Extreme Mode, which adds “spin” and “flick” commands for a steeper challenge.
