For those who are only interested in the multiplayer but are looking for a quick recap of Battlefield 6’s campaign, this guide will break down the story, while also explaining the war between NATO and Pax Armata. It will also cover the ending, which can be a little confusing, especially with the time jumps.
This article contains spoilers for Battlefield 6’s campaign story, including the ending.
What Is Pax Armata In Battlefield 6?
Pax Armata, which roughly translates to ‘armed peace’ in Latin, is a fictional Private Military Corporation, set in the Battlefield universe. The soldiers of Pax Armata are mercenaries from all over the world, and the PMC is supported and supplied by certain countries.
They are seemingly led by Alexander Kincaid, a former British SAS soldier, but as is revealed later, they were created by or with the knowledge of CIA operative Melissa Mills. It could also be revealed in future games that Kincaid wasn’t the top dog, but in fact, Henry Blackburn from previous Battlefield campaigns, who felt betrayed and reportedly set up his own weapons company.
Chronological Order Of Events In Battlefield 6’s Campaign
The chronological order of events of Battlefield 6’s story can get a little confusing, as between missions, the story keeps jumping forward to the modern day with the Dagger 1-3 team interrogating CIA operative Melissa Mills.
All missions after the first one are therefore seen as flashbacks.
17th September 2027 – NATO’s Base In Georgia Is Attacked & NATO’s Secretary General Is Assassinated
Battlefield 6’s campaign starts in Georgia (the country, not the state) with US forces ready to peacefully hand over a NATO base and defense of the country to Pax Armata. However, Pax attacks the base, presumably so that they can steal NATO data stored there before it is taken away.
The playable character, Dylan Murphy, and his team are tasked with protecting or destroying this data, and in the end, the latter option is the only viable course of action.
A few days later, the NATO Secretary General is assassinated, with Pax Armata claiming responsibility. However, as NATO refused to act, 12 countries withdrew from NATO, throwing their support behind Pax Armata. This initiates a global conflict.
20th March 2028 – NATO Retake Gibraltar
Around 6 months into the conflict, NATO is ready to take back the strategic rock of Gibraltar, which guards the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea.
Dagger 1-3 splits into two groups, with Haz Carter and ‘Gecko’ parachuting in to take out coastal guns, before Murphy and Lopez join the beach landing. Kincaid is on site in Gibraltar, but escapes and leaves nothing of note behind.
Much to the displeasure of most residents, Egypt and its capital, Cairo, are under Pax Armata control. Here, there is also a biometrics CEO, Fayek Salim, who has been working with Pax.
Mills wants him extracted for the intelligence he can provide on Pax’s plans. With the help of Egyptian special forces, Dagger 1-3 are sent in, but things quickly go wrong, and Salim is killed. However, before dying, he indicates that the data is stored in his finger.
This information reveals that Pax Armata is planning to attack Brooklyn, New York.
14th June 2028 – Pax Armata Attacks Brooklyn
Before a NATO summit in New York, Dagger 1-3 try to infiltrate a Pax cell in Brooklyn, hoping to unearth more details of the impending attack and prevent it.
They discover that Kincaid has an inside man on the US warship Artemis, which is currently protecting the city. The Artemis will soon fire missiles to destroy bridges and other ways out of the city, before destroying it.
It turns out the coordinates for the attack will be given out by Pax Armata from an armored train, and when Dagger 1-3 are unable to destroy it, the decision is made to bomb it as it goes over the Brooklyn Bridge.
Upon searching the debris, Haz Carter is able to prevent most of the missiles from launching.
15th June 2028 – Pax Armata Tries To Capture The President
Following the events of the previous night, Dagger 1-3 realizes Kincaid’s true target is President Fernadez of the United States. His motorcade is attacked, but he reaches a safe house, from where he is eventually extracted by Dagger 1-3 and the Secret Service.
However, at the end of this mission, Kincaid stabs his former comrade Haz Carter to death as vengeance for abandoning him on the battlefield many years ago.
President Fernandez announces a global response force and revitalizes NATO in response to the attack on New York.
30th July 2028 – The Egyptian Army Retakes Cairo From Pax
As part of a worldwide push back against Pax Armata, the Egyptian Army rolls into Cairo and retakes the capital using tanks. Players step into the shoes of Ibrahim Al-Khatib of Unit 777, who previously helped during the Night Raid mission.
19th September 2028 – Dagger 1-3 Take Out Air Defenses In Tajikistan
In preparation for NATO’s assault on Pax Armata’s base in Tajikistan, Dagger 1-3, now led by Dylan Murphy and with the aid of Hemlock, are sent in to take out crucial air defenses.
In the process, a huge dam is also destroyed.
20th September 2028 – NATO Storms Pax Armata’s Base In Tajikistan
NATO forces attack Pax Armata’s base in Tajikistan, and Dagger 1-3’s objectives are to find Kincaid while also preventing hypersonic missiles from being launched.
Success is partial, as most missiles are shut down, but one explodes on site, killing another team. Kincaid is found and reveals that Pax Armata was created by Mills and the CIA so that there would be an enemy for NATO to unite against.
As Kincaid goes for his knife, new squad member Hemlock shoots him. With Kincaid’s death confirmed over comms by Hemlock, Mills gives the order for NATO to bomb the bunker, but Dagger 1-3 miraculously escapes via a helicopter. Their comms are completely cut off.
23rd September 2028 – Dagger 1-3 Raid Mills’ House & Interrogate Her
In response to Kincaid’s revelation that Agent Mills was responsible for Pax Armata and the fact that she tried to bury Dagger 1-3 as loose ends, the team infiltrates her suburban home.
They interrogate her about everything that happened, and at one point, they have to take out a team of Pax Armata operatives sent to extract or kill Mills.
In the end, Dylan Murphy kills Agent Mills.
Battlefield 6’s Ending Explained & What Will Happen Next?
To explain Battlefield 6’s ending is really to explain all the scenes in the modern day at Agent Mills’ residence. She reveals the following, all of which incriminates her and the CIA as direct or indirect instigators of the global conflict.
- Pax targeted the NATO base in Georgia due to a technology known as ‘Project Veles’, which was able to disable satellite imagery.
- While unsuccessful in retrieving it in Georgia, they obtained the technology in Gibraltar.
- This allowed Pax Armata to operate in other countries, undetected, gaining the upper hand.
- Agent Mills planted Kincaid in Pax Armata, and he armed them with NXC, an explosive nano-compound, which would have been launched from the missiles in Tajikistan.
- Mills was apparently not working alone, with everything sanctioned by the CIA and the US government, before Kincaid went rogue and everything got out of control.
As Mills and Kincaid were evidently not the only ones behind Pax Armata’s deadly rise, the story will hopefully continue in a future Battlefield game. As ‘Gecko’ says at the end, “the worst is still to come.”
