Award Winning 2018 RPG Could Be Getting a Native PS5 Upgrade

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the award-winning RPG from developer Warhorse Studios, could be receiving a big PlayStation 5 upgrade in the near future. Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released back in 2018 and doesn’t currently have a native current-gen version, but it is playable on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility. After the huge success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Warhorse may be looking to capitalize on its momentum by bringing the first game in the series to PlayStation 5.

The 2018 RPG received tons of nominations and even picked up a Game of the Year award at the 2019 Player’s Awards. Its sequel, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, took the series to new heights earlier this year and is a strong contender for Game of the Year at the 2025 Game Awards. While the nominees have yet to be revealed, fans are certain that the smash-hit sequel will be going head-to-head with the likes of Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Split Fiction, Donkey Kong Bananza, and more. With so many exceptional games launching in 2025, it’s going to be a tough year determining which will come out on top.

After Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s massively successful launch earlier this year, it looks like developer Warhorse Studios may be attempting to capitalize on the success, as new details suggest a native PlayStation 5 version of 2018’s Kingdom Come: Deliverance is on the way. According to Twitter user PlayStation Game Size, who regularly tracks backend data from PlayStation that is not publicly available, a PlayStation 5 version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is coming soon. No release date was provided by the user, but if it has already been uploaded to PlayStation’s backend, it could be coming pretty soon.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance May Be Getting a PS5 Upgrade

The possibility of a native PS5 version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance will likely come as a big surprise to fans of the series, given that Warhorse Studios is still supporting Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 with new updates, DLCs, and hotfixes. Although the RPG has been available for most of the year, Warhorse is giving fans plenty of reasons to keep playing. Alongside plenty of free content updates, the studio recently released the first DLC for the title, known as Brushes With Death. The paid expansion added a new storyline with fresh quests for players to complete, a new shield painting feature, and much more.

If a PS5 version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is on the way, it could be coming at the perfect time, as the next DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t set to launch until the Autumn. Very little is known about what will be included in the game’s second DLC, but Warhorse has said it will focus on Henry rebuilding the smithy in Kuttenberg and becoming a master blacksmith. A third DLC for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, titled Mysteria Ecclesia, is also set to release in the Winter.
