Team Cherry has announced that a special announcement regarding Hollow Knight: Silksong will be aired on YouTube on August 21 at 7:30 AM PT / 10:30 AM ET. Many fans of the highly anticipated Metroidvania sequel were expecting it to show up during tonight’s Gamescom Opening Night Live event, and while that no longer seems to be the case, Hollow Knight: Silksong will have its own time to shine later this week.
Fans of Team Cherry’s Hollow Knight have been waiting over six years for its promised sequel, with each major gaming event prompting ample prayers and the donning of clown makeup from its dedicated fandom. In early July, rumors began to swirl once again, as the Hollow Knight: Silksong Steam page was updated manually, causing many fans to begin anticipating a proper release date announcement. While that hasn’t taken place just yet, it seems that the developer is preparing to unveil more about the title, and those eager to learn more about both the development process and the future of Hollow Knight: Silksong will want to tune in to a special stream later this week.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Special Announcement Date and Time
- August 21 at 7:30 AM PT / 10:30 AM ET
This week, Gamescom Opening Night Live host Geoff Keighley teased Hollow Knight: Silksong in a social media post, prompting fans to get their hopes up about a potential reveal at tonight’s event. However, it looks like Team Cherry is gearing up for a stream of its own, as a new Twitter post is teasing a special Hollow Knight: Silksong announcement premiering on August 21 at 7:30 AM PT / 10:30 AM ET on its official YouTube channel. Journalist Jason Schreier has also announced that he will share the story behind why the game took seven years to develop in a Bloomberg article on August 21 as well. Likely, patient fans will finally get a Silksong release date during the stream on Thursday.
Regardless of when the game is scheduled to launch, a Hollow Knight: Silksong demo will be playable at Gamescom, with lucky attendees able to try both the PC and ROG Xbox Ally handheld versions during the event. For those unable to attend, live broadcasts from the showroom floor will air on August 20 and 21, and Team Cherry may share some additional gameplay details during its Thursday stream.
Hollow Knight: Silksong may not be appearing during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but game fans have plenty of exciting content to look forward to at the highly anticipated event. Scheduled to run for approximately two hours, the show will feature new information about Resident Evil Requiem, The Outer Worlds 2, Silent Hill f, and many more upcoming titles.
