Skills make up the foundation of how a character plays in Path of Exile 2. Every weapon you choose to equip comes with all sorts of skills, though just choosing which skills you want to have in combat is only the beginning of how those skills actually work in combat and how they make up your build.
Support Gems are a common find as you play, and these Support Gems can be engraved into all sorts of potential buffs that change how different skills work in combat. One popular support gem for mages was Arcane Tempo, though those looking for it these days won’t be able to find it. Here’s how to still equip and use the Arcane Tempo support gem.
How to Get Arcane Tempo (Rapid Casting) in PoE2
The reason players aren’t able to find Arcane Tempo anymore is that the support gem has been renamed to Rapid Casting. Rapid Casting is a level 1 spell support gem, so it will appear as blue in the support menu when choosing how to engrave a support gem. As long as the skill you are trying to support is a spell, it can be found in the support gems list; you may just need to search for it by pressing, “Show All” when looking under a specific spell. Here’s what Rapid Casting does at level 1:
- Supported spells have 15% increased cast time.
- Requirements: 5 Intelligence
Thanks to the low requirements, just about any spell caster shouldn’t have an issue getting and using this support gem even at a very low level.
You can only equip one type of support gem on a skill, so this can’t be stacked with an additional Rapid Casting to double the effects.
Should You Use Rapid Casting In Path of Exile 2?
For level 1 support gems, especially early into the game, this is a great option. Your starting cast speed will be fairly low, and this will help give you a boost for slower spells while still letting you focus your passive points on other upgrades. While there are better versions of rapid casting available later on, unless the spell is a spammable, you may want to focus on using other support gem options to make your already powerful spell more effective.
Once you have a lot more passive skill points to work with, it won’t cost as much to increase cast time across the board instead of just boosting it on individual spells, and that will usually be the more ideal option. Some of the stronger spells already have a much slower cast time, requiring you to be far and properly placed away from the enemy, so a few milliseconds of a better cast time won’t do as much good on only that spell.
