A reliable insider has brought forth new evidence of the rumored Resident Evil Requiem PS4 version. Resident Evil Requiem was recently confirmed to be adding the Nintendo Switch 2 to its launch platforms, which may have ended up confirming a PS4 port of the highly-anticipated survival horror game too.
Resident Evil Requiem was first revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025 in June as the long-awaited ninth entry in the beloved survival horror series. This was followed up by an extended showing of Resident Evil Requiem at Gamescom 2025 last month, which introduced some of protagonist Grace Ashcroft’s backstory. Capcom will launch Resident Evil Requiem on February 27, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, and up until now, those were the only systems officially on the table.
Resident Evil Requiem PS4 Version Seems Even Likelier Following Switch 2 Confirmation
Now, though, Capcom announced in the latest Nintendo Direct that Resident Evil Requiem is coming to the Switch 2 by way of a new trailer. Interestingly, the confirmation of the Resident Evil Requiem Switch 2 port partly validates a prior leak from credible Capcom insider Dusk Golem, claiming that the game will make its way to the Nintendo system and PS4. Further lending credence to the latter is that the new Resident Evil Requiem trailer’s end screen contained copyright language that clearly mentioned “PlayStation 4 logo” underneath the launch platforms, though the logo itself wasn’t present. Dusk Golem highlighted this discovery in a recent tweet.
The insider added in a follow-up tweet within the same thread that the inclusion of the “PlayStation 4 logo” line has to do with licensing and shouldn’t be taken as outright confirmation of Resident Evil Requiem coming to PS4. However, Dusk Golem also doubled down on his prior reporting, stating confidently that a PS4 port of Resident Evil Requiem is indeed in the works and will be announced at a later point in time. Moreover, the insider isn’t sure at the moment whether this Resident Evil Requiem PS4 version will be launched alongside other platforms on February 27 next year, or if it’s planned to be released later.
Though it’s baffling that a much-awaited 2026 AAA game like Resident Evil Requiem is targeting 12-year-old hardware, it should be noted that the PS4 still holds tens of millions of players, many of whom would likely pick up the latest Resident Evil entry without hesitation. In fact, Capcom leadership even blamed the PS5’s high price recently as an affordability barrier for players who don’t have high disposable incomes, thereby limiting the long-term success of current-gen-only games. To that end, it isn’t all that surprising to see the Japanese gaming giant potentially looking to bring Resident Evil Requiem to PS4.
