The Sims 4‘s next expansion pack has been announced, and players are beyond excited to learn more about what’s coming. So far, gamers have gotten access to a reveal trailer, a gameplay trailer, and a detailed blog post. While The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits only releases on October 2, the gameplay trailer was released three weeks prior to its launch, giving fans plenty of time to analyze everything single detail and get an idea of the features that are coming with the pack.
If players want to make sure that they haven’t missed anything, they’ve come to the right place, as this article goes over the most exciting features coming to The Sims 4 with the Adventure Awaits expasion pack.
Imaginary Friends
Creepy or Cute?
One of the features that immediately stood out to fans when the reveal and gameplay trailer for Adventure Awaits were revealed was the return of the imaginary friend. Simmers initially thought that imaginary friends would be added to The Sims 4 with the Growing Together expansion pack, as it’s the one that most resembles The Sims 3‘s Generations EP, but that was not the case.
In The Sims 4, players will be able to choose to interact with their imaginary friends and build a friendship that lasts forever, keep them around as a toy, or say goodbye forever and never see them again. It sounds brutal, but it is a feature that many had asked for in The Sims 3.
Host and Plan Getaways
You Can Even Create a Detailed Schedule
With Adventure Awaits, players can host and fully plan a getaway. Players can select a schedule preset and edit it to meet their preferences but they can also create a new schedule from stratch. However, just to get an idea of how versatile getaways can be with this pack, here are some of the getaway presets coming to The Sims 4:
- Fitness Retreat
- Outdoor Kids Camp
- Romantic Competition
- Cooking Competition
- Cozy Bed and Breakfast
- Creativity Retreat
- Senior Living Community
- Teen Popularity Contest
To create these themed getaways, players will have to make up a schedule, choose roles for the Sims on site, select the right venue, and add rules. There are dozens of custom options, so the possibilities are nearly endless, especially if players have access to more expansion packs.
Formative Moments and Challenges
Acquire Lifelong Traits
Formative moments weren’t shown in great detail in the gameplay trailer, but gamers were able to get the gist of it. When doing certain activities, Sims can initiate a formative moment, which will come with its own mastery challenges. If the Sim is able to complete these formative challenges during a critical stage of a Sim’s life and unlock a permanent trait.
While this was only shown for the Archery Skill, which will be introduced in the new pack, it is likely that this is a cross-pack feature that will include formative moments for several other skills, especially those available to younger Sims.
Modular Playgrounds
Create the Park of Your Dreams
Modular playgrounds are going to be part of The Sims 4 once the Adventure Awaits expansion is out. Whether builders want to incorporate this feature into their getaways or not, it’s up to them, but it’ll be great for parks.
Players can grab certain stairs, swings, and sliders, parts and place them next to each other to create all sorts of playgrounds. Additionally, it seems that they may be placeable in other areas, as in the trailer gamers can spot a slide leading into a pool.
Fitness Skill Equipment and Workout Options
Go to Spin Class or Lift Some Weights
There are already several activities in The Sims 4 that boost Sims’ Fitness Skill, but a whole lot more are about to become available with the Adventure Awaits EP. From spin class and free weights to board diving and kayaking, Adventure Awaits is adding several activities related to the Fitness Skill in The Sims 4.
Players can plan their getaways around these various athletic activities or they can simply enjoy them from the comfort of their own homes with the new equipment coming with the pack.
Create Custom Venues
Make Custom Venues for Your Getaways
Builders can create their own custom venues and select its settings according to their preferences. Then, they can have it as a hangout spot for Sims or host a getaway at the venue.
Here, players select custom roles for the Sims that will appear in this venue, so that they have certain activities assigned to them, such as Baker or Staff, for example.
