Hollow Knight: Silksong is filled with vast areas where players have to explore every corner of the map to find secret passages that may be hiding a collectible or tool. Apart from exploration, tools can also be purchased from certain vendors in exchange for Rosaries and Craftmetal. The Scuttlebrace is a tool that players can acquire in the second Act of the game. Here’s how players can find it and what it actually does in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
After reaching the second Act in the game and making your way through the Underworks, you will find yourself in the Citadel. It is here that you need to keep moving towards the left part of the map. Once you reach the elevator that requires the White Key to access, make your way to the top right part of the map, called Songclave.
It is here that you will get the White Key and can also ring the bell inside the First Shrine, making Songclave a hub for NPCs and quest givers. Make your way back to the Elevator and go down to reach Whiteward. What follows is a main story section where you will have to go down into the eastern side of the Underworks to find your next ability, Clawline.
Now that you have the ability, make your way back to the bench in the Underworks, where you can hear an NPC talking. Jump up and harpoon the grapple point, and then dash right to enter the Twelfth Architect’s Workshop. It is here that you can talk to the NPC and purchase the Scuttlebrace Tool for 140 Rosaries and 1 Craftmetal.
The Scuttlebrace is a very unique Yellow Tool because it allows players to perform a rapid retreat, which resembles the movement of a spider. To perform the Scuttle, press the RT/R2 button on your controller or the down button and C if you are playing on a keyboard. A good thing to note is that by holding down the button, Hornet can travel quite a lot of distance in this stance and even walk on walls.
You will definitely need time to get used to this Tool, but once you start to perform it naturally, you can easily get out of risky scenarios by running away like a spider.
