Dead By Daylight Finally Adds Long-Requested Feature

According to several sources, custom player lobbies in Dead by Daylight now require the host’s approval to join in, as of August 13. The change was a long-standing request that Dead by Daylight players had asked Behaviour Interactive to implement, and it arrived one day before Patch 9.1.2, which fixed additional bugs and issues.

The change was made two days after a livestream event was held to commemorate the crossover between Dead by Daylight and The Walking Dead. During the broadcast, a dedicated server intended to host a Dead by Daylight match featuring content creators and The Walking Dead actor Chandler Riggs was sabotaged by a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack and other technical issues. Following the livestream debacle, game developer Behaviour Interactive issued an apology on August 12. The company stated that it would redouble its efforts to listen to player feedback about how to improve its broadcasts.

One day after Behaviour Interactive’s statement, a change was implemented to Dead by Daylight that fulfilled a long-standing wish made by many fans. As reported by Dvveet on Twitter, joining a custom lobby in Dead by Daylight now requires the manual approval of the lobby’s host, and applies to lobbies hosted by any players, including friends. The host will see a pop-up to notify them of someone who wants to join, and the host can either approve or deny them entry. The lobby change was implemented shortly after The Walking Dead crossover stream, with players criticizing Behaviour Interactive for not implementing it sooner. The day after lobby approvals were added, Dead by Daylight released Patch 9.1.2 to address some bugs and bring back a few forms of content for players to enjoy. The update arrived over a week after Dead by Daylight launched Patch 9.1.1 to address some major issues with the game’s performance.

Patch 9.1.2 is now available for Dead by Daylight players to download on all available platforms. Like the 9.1.1 update before it, Patch 9.1.2 addresses some bugs and makes some changes to various skills. While the Fog Vial was nerfed in Patch 9.1.1, the popular Survivor item was further tuned down in the 9.1.2 update. The Fog Vial now has two charges, and The Singularity Killer can now teleport to Survivors he can see within the fog created by the vial.

Dead by Daylight also confirmed that 2v8 would return on August 19 at 11:00 AM Eastern, and included an option to “Play While You Wait” in the popular game mode. Between the lobby changes and the bug fixes brought in with Patch 9.1.2, what other adjustments Behaviour Interactive will make to the game remains to be seen.

2V8

The 2V8 event returns Tuesday, August 19th at 11:00 AM Eastern.

PLAY WHILE YOU WAIT

Added the option to “Play While You Wait” to the 2v8 game mode.
- When queuing for a 2v8 Killer match, you’ll receive the option to Play While You Wait.
- This allows you (and a friend, if you’d like) to play a match of 2v8 as a Survivor while saving your place in the Killer queue.
- After finishing this match, you will automatically return to your place in the Killer queue.

THE LEGION UPDATE

Innate Skills:
- Reduced the duration of Feral Frenzy to 11s (was 12s).
- Reduced number of targets seen with Killer Instinct to 4 (was 7).
- Reduced the number of hits needed to down a Survivor while in Feral Frenzy to 6 (was 7).
- Removed the bonus which extended the Killer Instinct detection radius beyond the Terror Radius.

SHADOW CLASS UPDATE

Team Skill:
- Grants Undetectable for 60 seconds when sending a Survivor to the Cage of Corruption.
- After the effect has elapsed, the ability will go on cooldown for 60 seconds.
- While this skill is on cooldown and you are within 32 meters of your teammate, gain 5% Haste and decrease cooldown by 25%.

ESCAPIST CLASS UPDATE

Team Skill (adjustment):
- Escapist Team Skill is now activated by using Active Ability Button 2.
- Range of Silent Rush ability has been increased to 12m (was 8m).

GUIDE UPDATE

Team Skill:
- When repairing, reveal the generator’s aura and your aura to other Survivors.
- Gain the ability to trap a generator. Charges over 90 seconds. Repairing generators can decrease the wait time. Stand next to a generator to install a trap. The trapped generator has a yellow aura visible to Survivors and will stun and blind a Killer who tries to damage it.
- The trap is deactivated when triggered or after 120 seconds.
- Open Exit Gates 15% faster and reveal your aura to other Survivors within 128 meters.
Unlockable Skill:
- After being caged, gain access to a listening device that automatically installs on a generator after completing 35% repair progress.
- A bugged generator’s yellow aura is visible to Survivors and reveals the Killer’s aura when within 14 meters.
- The device is deactivated when the generator is damaged or after 60 seconds.
- If a listening device is already installed on a generator when 35% repair progress is reached, install a new listening device that resets the 60 second countdown.
