This Iconic ARPG Sequel Is Having a Very Successful Early Access on Steam

Titan Quest 2 has sold over 300,000 copies by August 5, 2025, and the Early Access title shows few signs of slowing down. In the wake of its Early Access launch on Steam, Titan Quest 2 has garnered critical and popular acclaim, allowing its strong word-of-mouth to carry it towards success. It is a sequel to the ARPG developed by Iron Lore Entertainment and published by THQ on June 26, 2006. What made the original Titan Quest a success was its dual mastery system, allowing players to combine two classes into unique builds, as well as its gorgeous setting, blending the mythologies of Ancient Greece, Egypt, and China into a hack-and-slash adventure.

Much like its predecessor, Titan Quest 2 takes players to a fictional version of Ancient Greece – this time pitting them against the Goddess of Retribution, Nemesis. The game starts players off on Proti Island, which serves as the tutorial zone, before it opens up properly in Pyrgos. While the Early Access for Titan Quest 2 only features one Act, it allows players to progress up to Level 40 with two of four currently available Masteries (Rogue, Warfare, Storm, and Earth).

Titan Quest 2 Has Sold Over 300,000 Copies In Its First 72 Hours

According to THQ Nordic, Titan Quest 2 sold over 300,000 copies within 72 hours of its Early Access launch, surging to the top of the charts on both Steam and the Epic Games Store. The momentum has continued well into its second week, as Titan Quest 2 has maintained 50% of its concurrent player peak – despite Early Access only having about 9 to 15 hours of story content. While it may not take long for players to beat Titan Quest 2, they have nonetheless found it a rather refreshing change from Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4.

Titan Quest 2 Nemesis

Unlike Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4, which emphasize seasonal content, Grimlore Games is primarily interested in creating a premium single-player experience, with optional co-op. The developers promised that Titan Quest 2 would not have any microtransactions, but would instead be supported by DLCs and expansion packs. While Titan Quest 2 does not have true multiplayer yet, Grimlore Games has promised that it will expand the multiplayer feature throughout Early Access.

The Road Map also promises that proper character creation will come in one of the first major Early Access updates, followed by the introduction of a new Mastery in Titan Quest 2. While the game won’t fully release until late 2026, its success in Early Access bodes well for its future launch, which will also make the game available for Xbox and PlayStation players.
