Attack on Titan is one of the most popular anime series of all time. Nearly every season of the anime has been flawless, and fans have had little to no complaints about it. However, the entire reputation of the show came crashing down in the final season. Fans absolutely despised the story’s conclusion, and it is still heavily debated even years later.
Attack on Titan Author Wanted To Change The Ending
Isayama Wanted To Do Things Differently
According to a new report, Hajime Isayama wished that he could have altered the ending of Attack on Titan. Hajime Isayama said that he was restricted because of his original idea for the manga. He was young when he came up with his initial plans, so it became a restrictive art form for him. Isayama compared himself to Eren, whose powerful abilities ended up restricting the hero.
“It would’ve been nice if I could have changed the ending. I was tied down to what I had originally envisioned when I was young so the manga became a very restrictive art form for me, similar to how the massive powers that Eren acquired ended up restricting him.”
Isayama’s statement has caused quite a stir within the fan base. Those who liked the ending felt betrayed in the sense that Isayama himself wasn’t satisfied. Meanwhile, fans who were dissatisfied with the conclusion have a deep sense of regret that the author never got to change the finale.
While it’s certainly true that Attack on Titan’s climax is polarizing, there’s no denying that the rest of the series is of the highest quality. Isayama tackles many important themes in Attack on Titan, and his approach separates him from most mangaka.
Fans Still Talk About Attack On Titan
As previously stated, Attack on Titan is still among the most discussed anime series, which is why it continues to attract new viewers. Attack on Titan’s manga is excellent, but many fans agree that the anime is superior. Both Wit Studio and MAPPA did a phenomenal job with the adaptation.
The hard work of the studios paid off, and viewers fell in love with the series. It also helped to increase the sales of the manga. There is a genuine possibility that the Attack on Titan manga wouldn’t have crossed the 100 million mark without the anime. So, a lot of credit for the series’ popularity goes to the anime.
