If you’re a Studio Ghibli fan, now’s an ideal time to start or expand your Blu-ray collection. The distinctive, matching Steelbook Editions of most of the movies in the Japanese animation studio’s filmography are on sale for exceedingly low prices at Amazon. Nearly all of animated movies written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki are featured in the promotion, including nine Blu-ray Steelbook Editions for roughly $16 each.
Seven of the best deals are on Studio Ghibli movies directed and written by Miyazaki: Spirited Away, Ponyo, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, and Porco Rosso. More than a dozen Studio Ghibli Steelbook Editions are on sale for $19 or less, and all of them follow the same design aesthetics, which makes these vibrant collectible editions look great alongside each other on a display shelf. The list below is organized by price, from lowest to highest.
Along with the seven Miyazaki-directed films for $16.29 or less, you’ll find two of the other films he directed, The Wind Rises and Princess Mononoke, for below $19 each. Two of the three Ghibli films he wrote but didn’t direct, are also up for grabs for cheap, with The Secret World of Arrietty priced at $16.29 and From Up on Poppy Hill discounted to $17.89.
Several Ghibli films directed by the late Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata are also available for stellar prices, including The Tale of Princess Kaguya for $16.19 and Grave of the Fireflies for $22. Grave of the Fireflies just received a new Steelbook Edition in July. Shout Factory modeled the case design after The Boy and the Heron’s Steelbook Edition, which became the first Ghibli film on 4K Blu-ray when it released last summer. The case art on these two trade the single-color backgrounds and small illustrations for larger, scenic illustrations.
With the exception of The Boy and the Heron, all of the Steelbook Editions are Blu-ray and DVD combo packs. The Boy and the Heron comes with 4K and 1080p Blu-ray discs.
It’s not known how much longer each of the Steelbook Editions below will remain in print, but several Studio Ghibli Steelbook Editions have been sold out for years. Many were first printed five years ago, so they haven’t quite lived up to the “Limited Edition” moniker, but the $16-$17 prices are extraordinarily low.
How to Complete your Studio Ghibli Collection

As mentioned, with Amazon’s current Steelbook Edition deals, you can get the majority of Studio Ghibli’s output and nearly all of the films written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki with collectible cases for cheap. Unfortunately, there are a handful of Ghibli films that are no longer available–or haven’t been printed–with steelbook cases. The most notable of the bunch is Castle in the Sky, the 1986 feature written and directed by Miyazaki. That’s the only Ghibli film directed by Miyazaki with an out-of-print Steelbook Edition. One of the films he wrote but didn’t direct, Whisper of the Heart, is also out of print.
Thankfully, Castle in the Sky and Whisper of the Heart have standard editions for $16.56 (was $25). You can complete the Studio Ghibli filmography by picking up the standard Blu-ray editions of The Cat Returns, Pom Poko, The Red Turtle, and Tales from Earthsea. We created a hub on Amazon where you can see all of the remaining Ghibli and Miyazaki films unavailable in Steelbook Editions.
Below, you’ll find Studio Ghibli’s complete filmography in standard edition Blu-ray and DVD combo packs. We also included Lupin the 3rd: The Castle of Cagliostro, as it was Miyazaki’s directorial debut, made in 1979 before he founded Studio Ghibli. It’s available on 4K Blu-ray for $28 (was $35).
Studio Ghibli Complete Filmography (Standard Editions):
Some of the newer standard editions come with cardboard sleeves, and most are made by Shout Factory, but there are still some Blu-rays lingering around from the days when Disney distributed Studio Ghibli movies on Blu-ray and DVD.
The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki (Blu-ray) – Amazon Exclusive

Strangely, Amazon recently restocked its exclusive Blu-ray box set focused on Hayao Miyazaki’s filmography. The Collected Works of Hayao Miyazaki was originally released back in 2015 by Disney. This Blu-ray box set is quite lovely, but it is worth emphasizing that it’s no longer a complete collection of the films Miyazaki has directed, as he came out of retirement to write and direct The Boy and the Heron, his 12th film, in 2023. As a result, this box set comes with the first 10 films he directed at Studio Ghibli and The Castle of Cagliostro. The movies and a bonus disc are packaged in book-style case with artwork on each page. The disc case and a booklet are packaged inside of a white slipcase with gold accents. The final touch is a belly band resembling a film reel with stills from each of Miyazaki’s films.
Miyazaki fans should also check out the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Manga Box Set. It’s the only manga series authored by Miyazaki. Naturally, the seven-volume series has plenty of material that didn’t make it into the film adaptation. The box set collects the entire run into two hardcover books totaling 1,104 pages. This beautiful collection had been unavailable to purchase for awhile, but Amazon is taking orders it again as of August 7. You can also get Shuna’s Journey, a manga written and illustrated in watercolor by Miyazaki, for over 50% off. First published in 1983, the moving tale finally received an English translation in 2022.
A handful of Studio Ghibli hits have been adapted into comics over the years. Up until last year, many individual volumes of the Film Comics were difficult because they were out of print. Viz Media’s new All-in-One Editions have brought the Film Comics back to life as budget-friendly hardcover books. Film Comic adaptations of Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki’s Delivery Service, and Ponyo are available now. Each book is comprised of still images from the movies alongside text that tells the full story in a different medium.
Spirited Away’s omnibus is the largest of the bunch at 856 pages, so it costs five bucks more than the other three available now–but it’s on sale for only $25.60 at Amazon. The All-in-One Edition of Ponyo’s Film Comic was published July 22. You can also preorder Princess Mononoke Film Comic: All-in-One Edition for $32.55 (was $35) ahead of its January 2026 release. Like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke’s Film Comic omnibus is 856 pages.
