Daiwa Scarlet is one of the most popular horse girls in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, and she has one of the most interesting career paths in the game. While every Umamusume has special events with dialogue options in their careers, Daiwa Scarlet can change course and follow her rival Vodka to an entirely different set of races.
Daiwa Scarlet and Vodka’s rivalry is one of the fiercest in Umamusume, and you’ll have to train Daiwa Scarlet correctly in order to beat Vodka on her career path. Even then, there are plenty of other multiple-choice career events for Daiwa Scarlet that can either boost her stats or completely ruin her mood, so you need to pick carefully. Daiwa Scarlet’s career races are mostly Medium distance on Turf tracks, but there are a few Mile and Long races thrown in as well. The biggest change for Daiwa Scarlet’s career path happens in the middle of her Classic Year. She can choose to follow Vodka to the Japanese Derby or stick with the Japanese Oaks, but the subsequent goal races remain unchanged.
Should You Choose Japanese Oaks or Japanese Derby?
This is the biggest choice in Daiwa Scarlet’s career, but it doesn’t have very many lasting effects for her. Both the Japanese Oaks and Japanese Derby are 2400-meter Medium Turf races, so you don’t even have to change your training regimen to succeed.
The Japanese Derby is the harder of the two races, however, so you should stick with the Japanese Oaks unless you’re confident you can beat Vodka and come in first. Going with the Derby will increase Daiwa Scarlet’s mood, and winning the Derby will grant you more fans and skill points than the Oaks.
